On motion of Councilman <br />Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the communication was received, <br />filed and Clerk instructed to return the check advising Mr. NcHenry <br />that the City h~s received an mppraisal of $21,000.00 for the property <br /> <br />and is not in a position to accept the offer. <br /># <br />0n motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br /> <br />reports of the Building <br />of June, 1953 and Civil <br /> <br />received and filed. <br /># <br /> <br />Department and Police Department for the monthi! <br /> <br />Service Board Minutes dated June 10, 1953, were <br /> <br />Communication was read from the City Engineer advising that improve- <br />ments within the boundaries of Tract No. 1572 have been completed, and <br />on motion of Councilman Dahl, seoonded by Larsen and carried, bond <br />filed by Emmet C. Rogers etux, in the sum of $7,000.00, was ordered <br /> <br />released. <br /># <br /> <br />Communication was read from the City Engineer advisir~ that improve- <br />ments within the boundaries of Tract No. 1676 have been completed, <br />and on motion ~of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, bond~ <br />filed by Paul B. Witmer etux, in the sum of $10,000.00, was ordered <br />released. <br /> <br />Communication was read from W.H.Spurgeon, Jr. owner of the Bungalow <br />Apartments, 308~ North Sycamore Street, protesting the noise from the <br />Del Na~ Club, 315 North Sycamore Street, and on motion of Councilman <br />Jerome, seconded by La~rsen and carried, the complaint was referred to <br />the Chief of Police for report. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that the bequest in the sum of $5,000.00 <br />made to the City in the will of Walter L. Neill, deceased, for the <br />purpose of erecting a ~inking fQuntain in Birch Park with a suitable <br />plaque be refused due to the additional maintenance cost which may be <br />involved. On motion of Councilman Larsen, seaonded by McBride and <br /> <br />carried, the recommendation was approved and check ordered returned. <br /># <br /> <br />The Clerk read the report of the appoi~nted committee and on motion of <br />Councilman Larsen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the bid of the <br />Santa Ana Independent was accepted for the publication cf City legal <br />advertising for the fiscal year 1953-54. <br /> <br />Communication was read from the City Attorney recommending that the <br />City offer $11,500.00 for a deed to the Remsberg property located at <br />the northeast co~ner of 17th and North Main Streets. On motion of <br />Councilman Dahl, seconded by Larsen and aa~ried, the communication was! <br />received, filed and the City Attorney authorized to offer $11,500.00 <br />for the Remsberg property. <br /> <br /> <br />
