CITY COUNCIL 12 OCTOBER 1, 2024 <br /> <br />AGENDA ITEM NO. 9 WAS PULLED FOR SEPARATE DISCUSSION AND <br />CONSIDERATION <br /> <br />9. Citywide Purchase Order with DS Services of America, Inc. dba Primo Water <br />North America for Bottle Water and Related Products (Specification No. 24- <br />093) (General Fund and Non-General Fund) <br /> <br /> Department(s): Finance and Management Services <br /> <br /> Recommended Action: Award citywide purchase order to DS Services of America, <br />Inc. dba Primo Water North America for bottled water and related products for a <br />term beginning on October 2, 2024 and expiring February 29, 2028, in an annual <br />amount not to exceed $50,000. <br /> <br />MINUTES: Councilmember Bacerra spoke in opposition to the item and asked why <br />bottling water is not an in-house service. <br /> <br />City Manager Alvaro Nuñez addressed the necessity of the contract and confirmed <br />he would bring back a report that assessed the process and costs of bottling water <br />in-house. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Phan spoke in support of the item and promoted the continued use <br />of individual water bottles/flasks. <br /> <br />Mayor Amezcua echoed Mayor Pro Tem Phan’s comments. <br /> <br />MOTION: Councilmember Penaloza moved to approve the recommended <br />action for Item No. 9, as amended to have staff prepare a feasibility of bottling <br />the City’s own water, seconded by Councilmember Hernandez. <br /> <br />The motion carried, 6-1, by the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />NOES: <br />ABSTAIN: <br />ABSENT: <br />COUNCILMEMBER HERNANDEZ, COUNCILMEMBER <br />LOPEZ, COUNCILMEMBER PENALOZA, <br />COUNCILMEMBER VAZQUEZ, MAYOR PRO TEM PHAN, <br />MAYOR AMEZCUA <br />COUNCILMEMBER BACERRA <br />NONE <br />NONE <br />Status: 6 – 1 – Pass <br /> <br />10.
