On motion of <br />Councilman Lateen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the communication <br /> <br /> was received and filed. <br /> . <br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, ~he <br /> <br /> request of Reno Logier for a curb permit of 33 feet in the 100 block <br /> for a Triplex - ~AA <br /> Booth Street, to be used as an approach to ~arage_~_/at 1020 20~-zz West <br /> <br /> First Street, was referred to the committee on curb usage for report <br /> <br /> at the next meeting. <br /> . <br />On recommendation of the City Manager and on motion of Councilman <br />Jerome, seconded by Lateen and carried, proper official was authorized <br />to execute Agreement between the State of California, Office of Civil <br />Defense, for temporary transfer of Fire Pumper OCD No. 39, commencing <br /> <br /> September l, 1953 and e~ding March l, 1954o <br /> . <br /> The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, oF <br /> motion of Councilman Dahl, seconde~ by Jerome and carried, the follow- <br /> ing Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"Resolution No. 53-132 fixing the rate of <br />compensation for ~Crossing Guards" <br /> <br />was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen <br /> <br />Noes, Councilmen <br />Absent, Councilmen <br /> <br />William Jerome, J.L.McBride, <br />Thomas F. Chandler. <br />None <br />None <br /> <br />A petition was read signed by sixty-two residents and property owners <br />in the Artesia and West Fifth Street District protesting the indecent <br />operation and management of ~the Acapulco Cafe at 2026 West Fifth Stree~ <br />requesting that the matter be brought to the attention of the State <br />Board of Equalization and the City license revoked. Lucas Lucio, <br />official spokesman for the protestants stated that the statements are <br />true and that witnesses would be~ available who would verify the charges <br />as contained in the petition. On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded <br />by Jerome and carried, the petition was referred to the City Manager <br />for report. <br /> <br />Charlie Wolf, ~13 East Pine Street, again appeared before the Council <br />stating that the weeds in the alley at the rear of his property had not <br />been cut by the City crew, and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded <br />by Jerome and carried, the matter was referred to the City Manager for <br />action. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the City Manager and on motion of Councilman <br />J~rome, seconded by McBride and carried, the bid of the Pacific States <br />Oast Iron Pipe company was accepted for the furnishing of 10,000 feet <br />of 12 inch and 5,000 feet of 8 inch Cast Iron Pipe, and all other bids <br />were rejected. <br /> <br /> <br />
