<br />of the Application of Pacific Greyhound Lines for authority to change

<br /> its urban routes in the City, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the
<br />Application of Albert Lipps, dba Douglas Bas Line, for a certificate
<br />of public convenience and necessity to operate a bus line between Santa
<br />Ana and the Douglas Aircraft Plant, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Larsen and carried, Summons
<br />in the case of Rachele S. DJivre for alleged injuries, in the sum of
<br />$10,000.00, when she fell at Broadway and Fourth Streets, due to the
<br />
<br /> faulty condition of a metal marker, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the
<br />claim of Felton A. Ward for alleged injuries sustained, in the sum of
<br />$250,000.00, when his automobile ran off the end of Fourth Street at
<br />Artesia Street, due to the negligence of the City to maintain proper
<br />warning and lighting devices at the intersection, was referred to the
<br />
<br />City Attornsy and Insurance Carrier.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the Claim
<br />and Demand of Vivian Stockton for damages, in an undetermined amount,
<br />as a result of an automobile accident with Police Officer Forrest L.
<br />Duke, was referred to.the City Attorney and Insurance Carrier.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Lateen and carried, Civil
<br />Service Board Minutes dated August 5th, 1953, and report of the Police
<br />
<br />Department for the month of August, were received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Lateen, seconded by Dahl and carried, the
<br />request of the Kiwanis Club of North Santa Ana, for permission to
<br />
<br />solicit funds on September 24th, 25th and 26th, was granted.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the
<br />notification of the State Board'of Equalization of alcoholic beverage
<br />application made by Ben C., Robert C. and Pascual C. Munoz, 1432 West
<br />
<br />Fourth Street, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dab/ and carried, the
<br />applications of Joseph N. Richardson, Eugene F. Kerk~r, James E. English
<br />and P~aymond V. Charette to drive taxicabs, were received and permits
<br />
<br />granted.

<br />On recommendation of the Purchasing Agent and on motion of Councilman
<br />McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the Clerk was authorized to
<br />advertise for bids for the furnishing of one truck with crane and four
<br />pick-up trucks; bids to be opened September 21st, 1953.
