Public Works Agency <br />www.santa-ana.org/public-works <br />Item # 10 <br />City of Santa Ana <br />20 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana, CA 92701 <br /> Staff Report <br />February 4, 2025 <br />TOPIC: Ford F-550 Stakebed Truck <br />AGENDA TITLE <br />Purchase Order to Western Truck Exchange for One Ford F-550 Stakebed Truck <br />(Specification No. 24-143) (Non-General Fund) <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />Authorize a one-time purchase and payment of a purchase order to Western Truck <br />Exchange for one, new/unused 2024 Ford F-550 Stakebed Truck in an amount of <br />$127,818 plus a contingency amount of $5,000, for a total amount not to exceed <br />$132,818. <br />GOVERNMENT CODE §84308 APPLIES: No <br />DISCUSSION <br />The Public Works Agency’s (PWA) Parks, Fleet, and Facilities Division is responsible <br />for the acquisition, maintenance, repair, and replacement of vehicles, trucks, and <br />maintenance equipment. The Fleet Services Team maintains an equipment <br />replacement schedule and works with multiple departments to routinely replace vehicles <br />that have surpassed their useful life cycle. <br />The PWA Maintenance Services Division currently utilizes a 2014 Ford F-550 Stakebed <br />Truck for various daily field operations, including hauling and moving heavy equipment <br />and objects such as, tree trunks, debris, and rubbish. The vehicle is heavily utilized <br />when responding to homeless-related requests for services to locations with challenging <br />terrain requiring earth/soil clearing, including the Santiago Creek. Additionally, the truck <br />is essential for the City’s emergency response to rain and windstorm related debris and <br />after hours emergency service calls. The existing truck was evaluated in accordance <br />with the City’s Equipment Replacement Policy and deemed to have reached its useful <br />life cycle. <br />Invitation for Bids (IFB) No. 24-143 was issued on December 5, 2024, on the City’s <br />online bid management and publication system.
