CITY COUNCIL 15 FEBRUARY 04, 2025 <br />Mayor Pro Tem Vazquez spoke regarding the Joint School Collaboration <br />Subcommittee and the benefits of having the subcommittee. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hernandez spoke in support of disbanding the Public Safety and <br />Homelessness Subcommittee and the Legislative Subcommittee but not the Joint <br />School Collaboration Subcommittee. <br /> <br />SUBSTITUTE MOTION: Councilmember Hernandez moved to approve the <br />resolution as presented to disband the Legislative City Council Standing <br />Subcommittee and the Public Safety and Homelessness City Council <br />Standing Subcommittee, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Vazquez. <br /> <br />Mayor Amezcua stated she has not received an update on the Joint School <br />Collaboration Subcommittee, and spoke regarding the City Manager’s and <br />Superintendent’s relationship. She spoke in support of disbanding all three <br />subcommittees. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lopez spoke in support of disbanding the Public Safety and <br />Homelessness Subcommittee and the Legislative Subcommittee but not the Joint <br />School Collaboration Subcommittee. <br /> <br />Councilmember Phan spoke in support of disbanding the Public Safety and <br />Homelessness Subcommittee, the Legislative Subcommittee, and the Joint School <br />Collaboration Subcommittee. <br /> <br />Councilmember Penaloza spoke in support of disbanding the Public Safety and <br />Homelessness Subcommittee, the Legislative Subcommittee, and the Joint School <br />Collaboration Subcommittee. <br /> <br />Brief discussion ensued regarding the City’s relationship with the Santa Ana Unified <br />School District. <br />SUBSTITUTE MOTION: Councilmember Hernandez moved to approve the <br />resolution as presented to disband the Legislative City Council Standing <br />Subcommittee and the Public Safety and Homelessness City Council <br />Standing Subcommittee, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Vazquez. <br /> <br />The substitute motion failed, 3-4, by the following roll call vote: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> <br />NOES: <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: <br />ABSENT: <br />COUNCILMEMBER HERNANDEZ, COUNCILMEMBER <br />LOPEZ, MAYOR PRO TEM VAZQUEZ <br />COUNCILMEMBER BACERRA, COUNCILMEMBER <br />PENALOZA, COUNCILMEMBER PHAN, MAYOR AMEZCUA <br />NONE <br />NONE <br />Status: 3 – 4 – Fail <br /> <br /> <br />
