Somers <br /> <br />Santa Clara Avenue, and on motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by <br />Jerome and carried, .td~e communication was received and filed. <br /> <br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, <br />on motion, 5f Councilman McBride, seconded by Larsen and ear~ied, the <br /> <br />following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"Resolution No. 5~-25 approving map, declaring <br />intention to vacate a portion of ~rand Avenue <br />and fixing time and place for hearing all persons <br />interested in or objecting to t/~e proposed vacation' <br /> <br />was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen William Jerome, J.L.McBride, <br /> Thomas F. Larsen, Cour%ney R. <br />Noes, Councilmen None <br />Absent, Councilmen Milford W. Dahl <br /> <br />Chandler. <br /> <br />Communications were read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />that a variance be granted Frieda Gutierrez to permit the use of prow <br />erty at 1331-37 West First Street, for construction of a small drive- <br />in restaurant, approximately 20~ x 25~, subject to the condition that <br />no signs be displayed, and from the Department of Public Works that <br />fill in cf all existing driveway approaches that are not to be used <br />in connection with the restaumant, are needed in front cf or along <br />side the property to bring it up to the present City standards. On <br />motion of 0ouncilman Larsen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Oommisslon was approved subject to the <br />condition imposed by the Commission, and to the improvements as <br /> <br />imposed by the Director of Public Works. <br /> # <br /> <br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />denial of variance application of Ernest A. Thies to permit the use <br />of property situated at the northwest corner of Evergreen Street and <br />Delhi Road for the operation of a small appliance repair shop in his <br />home. On motion of Councilman Jerome,aeconded by Larsen and carried <br />the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and <br /> <br />variance denied. <br />. <br />Communications wereread from ~he Planning Commission recommending <br />that a variance be granted 0harles A. Rockwell to permit the use of <br />property situated at 112 West St. Gertrude Place, for construction <br />a four-car garage for storage of light trucks, with black top over <br />balance of lot for off-street parking, subject to the condition that <br />no signs be displayed, and from the Department cf Public Works that <br />all broken sidewalk be replaced and that pavement be constructed from <br />eximting curb to existing pavement across front cf lot, in order to <br />bring it up to present City standards. On motion of 0ouncilman <br />Larsen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the recommendation of the <br />Planning Oommlssion was approved subject to t~he condition as imposed <br />by the Commission, and to the improvements as imposed by ~he Depart- <br />ment of Public Works. <br /> <br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />denial of variance application of Tressie D. Somers to permit the <br />use of guest house at the rear of property at 1223 West Chestnut <br />Street. On motion of Councilman Jerome, ~conded by McBride and <br /> <br /> <br />
