Kate Sutton (parking) In Re ~equest & SMtce. & Const. driveways) In Re Petition "San~a Ana Gardens Annexation" The Manager .reported. that the bid of Electric Supplies Distributing Company, for the furnishing of electric lamps, is the lowest and beet bid and meets the specifications of the City and of the Federal Government. On'motion of Councilman Lateen, seconded by Dahl and carried, the recommendation was approved and contract awarded to the Electric Supplies Distributing Company, all other bids rejected, check ordered returned and proper officials authorized to execute contract. The Manager recommended that the bid of the Santa Aha Independent be accepted for the publication of legal notices and other matters required by law to be published, for the fiscal year beginning July let, 1954 and ending June 30th, 1955. On motion of CounCilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the recommendation was approved'and contract awarded to the Santa Ana Independent and all other bids rejected. .# The Manager requested confirmation of the appointments of the follow- ing Service Chiefs and Alternates in accordance with the provisions of Resolution No. 4081, Oivil Defense and Disaster Resolution, and Tab "C" of the City of Santa Aha Civil Defense and Disaster Plan: Communications Service: ~Chief - James J. Johnston Alternate- Ronald Anderson Warden Service: Chief - Willis V Harris Alternate- Robert E~ Wilkerson Alternate- Frank C Pope, Jr. On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Larsen and carried, the appointments were approved. On recommendation of ~he Manager and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 54-92 establishing the procedures for advertising and opening sealed bids" was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen William Jerome, J.L.McBride, Thomas F. Larsen, Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler Noes, Councilmen None Absent, Councilmen None On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Larsen and carried, the request of Mrs. Kate Sutton, 209 West Cubbon Street, reference relief from the all-day parkers in fron' of her residence, was denied and the Manager instructed to write a letter to Mrs. Sutton explaining the reasons for the denial of the request.' # On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilman D .~hl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the request of M and S Maintenance and Construction for permission to construct three 33' driveways at pro- posed service station to be located on West l?th Street, at the en~ of King Street between Er~lish Street and Towner Manufacturing Company, was granted. , On motion of Councilman Dabl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the petition for consent to the commencement of annexation proceedings of inhabited territory south and west of the City, designated "Santa Aha Gardens Annexation", signed by Seth J. Harrelson and dated June 21st, 1954, was received and filed.
