Chapman, <br />~r. <br /> <br />Communications v~ere read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />granting of variance to permit the H.T.Foust Estate to construct an <br /> <br />office building, facing <br />on property situated on <br />age beginning at a point <br /> <br />Broadway, approximately L0' wide and 80~ deep, <br />the north side of Delhi Road, with 1251 front~ <br />approximately 410' west of the northwest <br /> <br />~corner of the intersection of Main Street and Delhi Road, and from the <br />Department of Public Works recommending certain improvements. On <br />motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />granted subject to the conditions that they improve to City s tand.ards <br />all portions of the property abutting on existing streets and that no <br /> <br /> curb cut be allowed on the portion of Broadway which ~rves to the <br /> of ~0' <br /> east and ~he dedication/on Delhi R~ad as recommended by the Depar~men' <br /> <br /> of Public Works. <br /> <br />Communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending denial <br />of variance application of Louis Riehl, Jr. to permit construction of <br />a 40' x 1501 one-story cement tilt-up type building, or cement brick <br />walls, to be used for dispensing groceries, on property located on the <br />south side of Fruit Street, adjoining the east side of the Freeway. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Larsen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />denied. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />granted to Leon H. and Clara I. Jackson to permit the erection of two <br />modern four-unit apartment buildings with eight-car garage on rear, <br /> <br />with entrance f~om alleyj on property at 1010 North Van Ness Street. <br />,, <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />granted to Bronley Building Company to ~rmit the establishment of a <br />minimum setback of 25' on Lets 31 ~o l~l, both inclusive, Tract 1856; <br />on the property located on Raymar Street and Richland Avenue, between <br />Raitt Street and a three-lot width east of Pacific Avenue. <br /> <br />John J. Smi'~h requested the Council to act favorably on his variance <br />application to permit erection of a small double-faced horizontal-type <br />electrical advertising display, for a real estate business at 310 West <br /> <br />Washington Avenue, which application had been denied by ~he Planning <br /> and <br />Commission. It was moved by Councilman Dahl~/seconded by Lansen that <br /> <br />the recommendation of the Planning Commission be approved and variance <br />application of John J.
