Council Chamber <br />Santa Ana City Hall <br />September 20, 1954. <br /> <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular session. <br />Meeting called to order by the Mayor. <br /> <br />Present: Councilmen William Jerome, J.L.McBride, Thomas F. Lateen, <br /> Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler. <br /> <br />Absent: Councilmen None <br /> <br />Each member of the Council having received copies of the Minutes of <br />September 7th, 1954, reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and <br />approved on motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Lateen and <br />carried. <br /> <br />In Re <br />Bid acceptance <br />Consto Orange Ave. <br />from Dyer Road to <br />Central Ave. <br /> <br />The tabulation of bids was submitted for the construction of Orange <br />Avenue f~om Dyer Road to Central Avenue, as follows: <br /> <br /> Sully-Miller Contracting Company $ 18,81~.88 CheCk $2000.00. <br /> Cox Bros. Construction Company 17,488.00 Bond 10%. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Lateen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Manager and the committee was approved and the <br /> <br />bid of Cox B~os. Construction Company was accepted, modified only by <br /> <br />acceptance by the State, as the lowest and best bid and the other <br /> <br />In Re <br />Bid acceptance <br />Mercury vapor lamps <br /> <br />bid rejected and check returned. <br />. <br />The tabulation of bids was submitted for the furnishing of fifty <br /> <br />Mercury vapor lamps and ballasts, as follows: <br /> <br />Electric Supplies Distributing Company $ 4,116.00 <br />Westinghouse Electric Supply Company 4,116.00 <br />Line Material Company 4,183.00 <br />Pacific Union Metal Company (alt.$~ll6.00) 4,183.00 <br />Econolite Corporation ~,318.50 <br /> <br />plus 3% ~a× <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Lateen and carried, the <br /> <br />recommendation of the Manager and the committee was approved and the <br /> <br />bid of Electric Supplies Distributing Company was accepted and the <br /> <br />In Re <br />Bid acceptance <br />Cast Iron Pipe <br /> <br />other bids rejected. <br />. <br />The tabulation of bids was <br /> <br />submitted for the <br /> <br />cement lined cast iron pipe, 6", 8", and 12" <br /> <br />furnishing of 35,000~ of <br />diameters, as follows: <br /> <br />United States Pipe & Foundry Co. <br />Bond in the sum of $10,000.00. <br /> <br />$ 79,650.90. <br /> <br />American Cast Iron Pipe Co. <br />Bond in the sum of $8,000.00. <br /> <br />78,905.70 <br /> <br />Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Co. $ 79,514.10 <br />Bond in the sum of ~0% of the amount bid. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Lateen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the <br /> <br />recommendation of the Manager and the committee was approved and the <br /> <br />bid of American Cast Iron Pipe Company was accepted and the other <br /> <br />bids rejected. <br /> <br /> <br />
