<br />Communication was read from A. Hamon, 1501 Durant Street, advising
<br />that the Street Department cut the blacktopping in the all~y north of
<br />15th Street between Broadway and Durant Street, while working on 15th
<br />Street, and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and
<br />carried, the matter was referred to the Manager and Director of Publi~
<br />Works for action.

<br />Communication was read from the Department of Public '~orks advising
<br />that improvements within Tract No. 1964 have been completed, and on
<br />motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, bond
<br />filed by Frank Hilditch, in the sum of $19,300.00, was o~-dered releacdd
<br />and improvements accepted as completed.

<br />On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br />request of Sully-Miller Contracting Company for an extension of time
<br />until November 1st, 175[.'-, to complete the street improvements on 17th
<br />Street, east of Grand Avenue, was granted.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by L~rsen and carried, the
<br />contmunication of Attorney Norman H. Smedegaa~'d, on behalf of property
<br />Owners, for abandonment of the northerly 10' .of Parcels 25, 25, 26 and
<br />28, shown on Assessor's Map BOok 7, Page 1~, along >~,~ Street ~.t
<br />SUllivan Street, was referred,to the Manager for report at his early
<br />convenience.

<br />On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br />Notice of Hearing before the Public Utilities Commission on applicatiGn
<br />of The Western Union Telegraph Company for an order authorizing it to
<br />increase and revise certain intra-state rates and regulations
<br />applicable to telegraph service within the State, was received and
<br />filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br />application of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Ladies Auxiliary
<br />Orange Belt Unit 25? for permission to sell violas and solicit funds
<br />November llth, 12th and 13th, was granted.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by McBride and carried, the
<br />application of Spire J. Krivokopich to drive taxicabs, was received,
<br />filed and granted.

<br />On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br />notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverage!
<br />applications of Hozy L. Patterson, 111 E. Third Street and Mary S.
<br />Valenzuela, ~22 E. Third Street, were received and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the
<br />claim of The Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company reference an
<br />eight multiple tile duct at the intersection of W. 5th Street and
<br />Sunset, being damaged by a clsm~shell digger operated, by a City employe~,

<br />was referred to the Attorney and Insurance Carrier.

<br />claim of Herlinda Olives for alleged personal injuries sustained in a
<br />fall on October hth, 1954, due to the defective condition and surfacin~
<br />of the street in the 1800 block W. 8th Street, in the sum of $15,000.0~,
<br />was referred to the Attorney and Insurance Carrier.
