In Rs <br />Variance <br />Bett~ L. Ducot <br /> <br />was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading. <br />Communications were read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />denial of variance application of Betty L. Ducot to permit the use <br />of property at 1605 English Street for a day nursery, and from the <br /> <br />Department of Public Works that construction of curb, sidewalk, <br />concrete driveway and paving out to existing pavement on English <br />Street are needed to bring it up to present City standards. Lettersi' <br /> <br />were read from Mrs. Kenneth G. Woesner and Mrs. Raymond R. Winter <br />favoring the granting of the variance. E.A.Goodolen, 151? North <br />English Street and E.M.Waycott, .1508 English Street, stated the prop- <br />erty .is in the R-1 Zone and the day nursery should not be allowed in <br />a residential district. J.E.Ham, 1606 English Street said the <br /> <br />operation of the nursery would decrease the value of his property. <br /> <br />Attorney Robert Corfman, representing Mrs. Ducot, gave reasons favor- <br /> <br />lng the variance and presented letters from Mr. and Mrs. Reddick, <br /> <br />1513 English Street, Mr. and Mrs. C. Zacker and Mr. and Mrs. Dean <br /> <br />Brown, 1714 English Street, and a petition signed by forty-nine <br /> <br />residents approving of the day nursery. On motion of Councilman <br /> <br />Jerome, seconded by Larsen and carried, the letters and petition were <br /> <br />received and filed. On motion of Councilman Larsen, seconded by <br /> <br />Jerome and carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was <br /> <br />In Re <br />Variance <br />Nelle Moore <br /> <br />approved and variance denied. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Larsen <br /> <br />and carried, the <br /> <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br /> <br />In. Jessup <br /> etal <br /> <br /> granted to Nelle Moore to permit the use of the rear part of lot at <br /> 714 Spurgeon Street, for day-time parking of five cars, on a monthly <br /> basis, which is in addition to the three stalls now used by tenants <br /> of the three-unit apartment at this location, the entire parking area <br /> to be black-topped. <br /> <br /> Communications were read from the Planning Commission recommending <br /> denial of variance application of Dr. W.M.Townsend, etux, to permit <br /> a reduction of the rear yard requirement to 6', in connection with <br /> <br /> proposed construction of a three-bedroom house on property at ll50 <br /> <br />West 10th Street, and from Mrs. M.B.Cass withdrawing her protest against <br /> the variance. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of <br /> the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and <br /> carried, the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 55-2~3 granting variance where <br /> Planning Commission recommended denial" <br /> <br /> was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Councilmen <br /> <br />Noes, Councilmen <br />Absent, aouncilmen <br /> <br />Ayes, Larse~, <br /> <br />William Jerome, J.L.McBride, Thomas F. <br />Milford W. J essup etal to permit the use <br />of property at 1506 South Roadway, for offices for an optometric <br /> <br />practice, converting existing double garage into office space, and <br /> <br />adding another room, no changes or alterations to be made to the <br /> <br />original residence, subject to certain conditions, and from the Depart~ <br /> <br /> <br />
