<br /> munication and Resolution NO. 1238 from the City of Orange advising
<br /> of proposed annexation of certain real property was received, filed
<br /> and Clerk instructed to advise the City of Orange the City of Santa
<br /> Aha has no objection to the proposed annexation.

<br /> Communications were read from ~he Planning Commission recommending
<br /> approval of a 25 foot setback line on Tentative Map of Tract No. 2483
<br /> and from ~he Planning Department. On motion of Councilman Dahl,
<br /> seconded by Jerome and carried, Tentative Map of Tract No. 2~83, sub-
<br /> mitred by Jenning~-Halderman, Inc., involving property bounded on the
<br /> north by McFadden S~reet, east by S~andard Avenue, south by Hobart
<br /> Stree~ and on the west by the Pacific Electric Railroad, and consist-
<br />
<br /> ing of 266 lots, was approved.

<br /> On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, ~he
<br /> request cf George Dun~on for a 30 foot driveway at 810 North Main
<br />
<br /> Street was referred to the curb usage committee with power to act.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, ~he com-
<br /> munication from the Personnel Board advising that certain positions
<br /> are being filled by temporary appointments beyond the limitations of
<br /> the Official Civil Service Rules and Regulations; that examinations
<br /> will be conducted, as soon as possible, to fill certain other' poeitioas
<br /> and an examination should be scheduled for the position of Assistant
<br /> City Manager, was received, filed and Clerk instructed to express to
<br />
<br /> the Board the thanks of the Council for keeping them informed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the
<br />communication from J.A.Scherman, State Forest Ranger, on behalf of the
<br />County Rural Fire Service, expressing thanks for the cooperation and
<br />assistance extended by the Santa Ana Fire Department in the suppression
<br />of the Bowling Alley fire on February 24th, 1955, was received and
<br />
<br /> filed~.

<br />On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, ~he
<br />communication from the Chief Engineer, The National Board of Fire
<br />Underwriters, expressing thanks for the assistance rendered ~helr
<br />Engineers during the survey of conditions in t~he City, together with
<br />report dated February, 1955, File No. 401, were received and filed.
<br />On recommendation of the Business Ments Association and on motion of
<br />Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the request of The
<br />Gospel Lifeline League, Inc., to solicit funds for evangelistic and
<br />
<br />missionary activities, was denied.
