RESOLUTION 72-7 - EST~-BLISHING REVISED <br />SCHEDULE OF RATES FOR REFUSE COLLECTION <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Municipal Code Chapter 16 provides for refuse collection regulation <br />and authorizes the establishment of charges for the collection and disposal of <br />refuse by resolution; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Resolution 68-142 established charges for collection and disposal <br />of refuse; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, increased costs since 1968 now require an upwards adjustment <br />in said charges; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the rates hereinbelow set out <br />are the rates that shall be due to the City for the collection and disposal <br />of refuse and/or for stand-by or the availability of said service. Said rates <br />shall be added to the rate charges for water service and billed with the bill <br />for water service. Any residential, commercial, or industrial occupancy <br />not served by Santa Aha water service, and ~ny residential, cormmercial, or <br />industrial occupant of an identifiably separate space but not served by a <br />separate water meter, shall be separately billed for stand-by collection <br />and refuse disposal service. Ail rates for such service shall be due and <br />payable at the Finance Department in the City Hall on the date of billing <br />therefor and become delinquent 15 days from and after the date of such billing. <br />A penalty of 10% shall be charged on all unpaid bills for such service 30 days <br />from and after the billing date. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the rates to be charged for stand-by <br />collection and refuse disposal service are hereby established in accordance <br />with the schedule hereinafter set out: <br /> <br />SCHEDULE OF RATES FOR REFUSE COLLECTION AND STAND-BY SERVICE <br /> <br />1. The basic rate for each single family residence for each two months <br /> or part thereof, shall be $2.60. <br /> <br />2. The basic rate for each duplex family residence for each two months, or <br /> part thereof, shall be $4.20. <br /> <br />3. The basic rate for all triplex family residences for each two months, or <br /> part thereof, shall be $5.80. <br /> <br />4.(a) <br /> <br />It shall be mandatory that apartment buildings with four or more <br />dwelling units be served by commercial container rental. The requirement <br />for mandatory container rental may be waived for apartment buildings <br />existing on January l, 1972, upon a finding by the Director of Public <br />Works that no space is available for such container within the boundary <br />lines of the apartment property. In no case, however, shall container <br />locations be permitted in the front yard set-back or within areas <br />required for meeting the ~inimum off-street parking requirements of <br />applicable zoning regulations. Any applicant who has been denied a <br />waiver by the Director of Public Works may appeal such action to the <br />City Council by filing within 30 days after such denial, a written <br />statement of his reasons why the City Council should reverse the action <br />from which the appeal is taken. <br /> <br />If space for a container is not available, as determined above, the <br />following fee schedule shall apply with a maximum of six 35-gallon <br />cans weekly per building: <br /> <br /> MONTHLY COST MONTHLY RATE FOR <br />No. UNITS PER UNIT TOTAL COST TWO MONTHS <br /> <br />4 $0.97 $3.88 $7.76 <br />5 0.97 4.85 9.70 <br />6 0.97 5.82 11.64 <br />7 0.97 6.79 13.58 <br />8 and up 0.97 7.76 and up 15.52 and up <br /> <br /> <br />
