<br /> On motion of Councilman Lateen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br /> Purchasing Agent was authorized to advertige for bid~ for the furnish-
<br /> ing of water service fittings, in accordance with Specification No.
<br /> 472-1; bids ~to be opened April 18th, 1955.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Lateen, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br /> Purchasing Agent was authorized to advertise for bids for the furnish-
<br /> ing of 50,000 feet 6 inch Cast iron Water pipe, in accordance ~ith
<br /> Specification No. ~81-3; bids to be opened April 18th, 1955.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Lateen, seconded by McBride and carried, the
<br /> request of Clark Shaw, dba Black &~Gr, en Cabs, for permission to
<br /> establish taxicab ~tands at nine locations, was referred to the curb
<br /> usage committee for recommendation.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br /> application of Dale E. McIntosh, to drive taxicabs, was received,
<br /> filed and granted.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, the
<br />request of the Blue Star Mothers of America for permission to solicit
<br />funds and sell daisies, on May 6th, 1955, was granted.
<br />
<br />Communication was read from the Personnel Board advising that at hear-
<br />ing held March 23rd, 1955, the Personnel Board unanimously removed the
<br />residence ruling by deleting Rule XVII, Section 2 of the Civil Service
<br />Rules and Regulations. On motion of Councilman McBride, seconded by
<br />Dahl and carried, the A~torney was instructed to prepare the necessary
<br />Ordinance to fix residence requirements necessary to qualify fop City
<br />employmen~. , .

<br />Copy of communication was presented addressed to the Personnel Board
<br />from the City Employees Association commending the Personnel Board on
<br />their s~and in regard to the continued employment of City employees on
<br />a temporary basis, which, under the Civil Service provisions of the
<br />City Charter, are included in the Classificd servicc, and maintaining
<br />that all vacancies in the Classified service sh~uld be filled accord-
<br />ing to the rules and regulation~ as set forth in the Cherter. On
<br />motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the com-
<br />munication was received and filed.
