Posted price at this time is: for regular grad® <br />$.236, for premium grade $.261. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the <br />recommendation of the committee was approved and the bid of the Shell <br />0il Company was accepted and the other bids rejected. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Dshl, seconded by Lateen and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />granted to permit Arthur M. Blanding to use the property at the north- <br />east corner of Wilshire Avenue at Sycamore Street, for the growing and <br />storing of shrubs and trees, in cans, subject to the conditions that <br />no shrubs bo in excess of 4 feet or permitted within the setback line <br />and no empty cans, bean straw or fertilizer to be stored on the <br />premises. It was moved by Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and <br />carried, that the petition signed by nine residents on South Sycamore <br />Street, stating they have no objections to the present use of the <br />nursery lots effected by the variance, was received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by McBride and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />granted to permit Arthur M. Blanding to use the property at 1316 South <br />Sycamore Street, for the purpose of gro~ing palms and bird of paradise <br />plants in the ground, with the understanding that this use will be <br />terminated June let, 1956 and the storage building removed at that <br />time. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Dah!, seconded by Lateen and carried, the <br />recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and variance <br />granted to Federated Construction Company to erect a l0t x 20t sign <br />on property at the southeast corner of Bristol and Myrtle Streets, to <br />advertise the sale of houses and lots in the tract one and one-half <br />blocks to the'west, the proposed sign to be at least 13~ from the <br />ground and to remain for a period of one year or less. <br /> <br />Communications were read from the Planning Commission recommending <br />granting of variance to Elmer Lee and Kathlcen B. Mylar, to permit the <br />use of property situated on the west side of Townsend Street between <br />the Pacific Electric Railway and the west extension of Third Street, <br />2?5.36' frontage on Townsend Street and approximately 750~ deep, for <br />the est~.bllshment and operation of a ready-mix concrete plant, and <br />the right to have sand and rock bunker, and from the Department of <br />Public Works that the dedication of sufficient width on Townsend <br />Street to provide a 60~ right-of-way and thc construction of curb, <br />sidewalk and paving out to centerline, is needed. On motion of <br />Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, a petition signed by <br />approximately sixty-four property owners in the vicinity protesting <br />the establishment and operation of She ready-mix concrete plant, was <br />received and filed. Ygnacio O'Campo, 1805 W. 2nd Street,stated that~ <br />the dust, noise and truck travel on the unpaved streets would be <br />detrimental to the r~sidents of the area and that their properties <br />would decrease in value. Mr. Flanagan, an associate of Mr. Mylar, <br />stated the building will be housed thereby preventing any air poll <br /> <br /> <br />
