<br /> commending City Officials and workmen on the efficient and expeditiom
<br /> manner in which the work on the widening of South Main Street is bein
<br /> accomplished and calling attention to several area~ where the wtdenin
<br /> has not been uniform. On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by
<br /> Jerome and carried, the co~munlcation was received and filed.

<br /> communication from Santa Ana Parent Teacher Council commendi.ng the
<br /> Fire Department in the teaching of fire preventio~ in the City school
<br /> was received and filed.

<br /> On motion o~f Cduncilman Markel, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br /> request of Mrs. Odessa Gilbank to abandon thirty feet of property on
<br /> 20th Street at the corner of Spurgeon Street, w~ referred to the

<br /> Planning Commission for recommendation.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the
<br /> request of Chester Wafford,that the bicycle license fee of fifty cent
<br />
<br /> for two years, be increased, was received and filed.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Hein]y and carried, the
<br /> resignation of Robert A. Miller, as a member of the Personnel Board,
<br /> effective October 26th, 1955, was accepted with regret and the Clerk
<br /> instructed to address a communication to Mr. Miller Oomme~ding'him fo~
<br /> his serVices.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Heinly and carrieS, the
<br /> request of Jack Fisher Chapter 23, Disabled American ~eterans, for
<br /> permission to solicit funds November 10th, llth and 12th, 1955, was
<br /> granted.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br /> request of Muscular Dystrophy Associations of America, Inc., for
<br /> permission to solicit funds beginning November let through December
<br /> 9th, 1955, was granted.

<br /> Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the request of Eta
<br /> Gamma Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha of Garden Grove, for permission
<br />
<br /> to solicit funds November 19th, 1955, was denied.

<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the
<br />application of Laguna Beach-Santa Ana Stage Line before the Public
<br />Utilities Commission to increase fare and express rates between Santa
<br />Ana and Lacuna Beach and intermediate points in Orange County, was
<br />
<br />received and filed.
