ClT~ OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br />STOREKEEPER <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under direetl0n, supervises and participates in the aetivites of the City'~ central <br />stores operation. <br /> <br />EXA}[PLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Develops and implements procedures for the control of storekeepfng operations~ inglud- <br />ing material handling and disposition, inventory control, and security systems; plans, <br />organizes, supervises and participates in the work involved in ordering, receiving, <br />storing, issuing and accounting for a wide range of materials, supplies, tools, equip- <br />ment and parts; inspects quantity and quality of goods received for conformance to <br />~rchase orders and specifications; establishes appropriate stock levels and reorder <br />oints; orders materials and supplies for replacement of inventory; obtains price <br />iuotations from local vendors for special items and makes purchases on interim purchase <br />.rders; confers with departmental representatives to ascertain unusual or special <br />apply requirements; maintains perpetual inventory and other stores records; conducts <br />'ad prepares reports on periodic inventories and cycle counts; establishes criteria <br />and makes recommendations on the disposition of surplus, obsolete or damaged materials <br />and supplies; maintains stores facilities in a safe, clean and orderly condition; per- <br />f~rms .related work as required. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS . . ~" <br /> <br />The work of this class involves responsibility for the operation of a large central <br />stores facility and involves the reordering or purchase of certain stock supplies and <br />the snpervision of assigned subordinates. Work is performed wi~h considerable inde- <br />pendence under general direction and in accordance with municlp~l purchasing policies <br />and procedures. Work is reviewed through periodic review of records and evaluation <br />of effectiveness and efficiency of operations. <br /> <br />MINIMUM BASIC QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and experience <br />involving considerable responsibility in the receipt, storage and issuance of a wide <br />variety of stores or in performing other related work offering specific and substan- <br />tial preparation for the performance of the duties of the class. <br /> <br />DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />Working knowledge of materials, supplies, tools, equipment and parts and their uses. <br />Considerable knowledge of storekeeping methods and practices, including inventory <br />control and stores records systems. Ability to establish and maintain accurate and <br />current records of stores transactions; to manage a large stores operation; to plan, <br />organize and supervise the work of others; and to establish and maintain effectige <br />working relationships with employees, vendors and others contacted in the course of <br />work. <br /> <br /> <br />
