<br />On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by
<br />D~h~ and carried, the bid of Santa Aha Electric Company, in the stun of $4350.00
<br />was accepted and the other bid rejected.

<br />gutters and pavement surfacing on portions of Sixth, Eighth and Ross Streets, at

<br />On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by
<br />Markel and carried, the bid of Sully-Miller Contracting Company, in the sum of
<br />$7,182.75 was accepted and the other bid rejected.

<br />the north side of Seventeenth Street between Towner and Olive Streets, as follows:

<br /> Communication from the Planning Commission recommending denial of variance
<br /> application of G. Howard Robertshaw to permit construction of building at 2002
<br /> South Woodland Avenue, to be used for retail ice cresm store, etc., and a letter
<br /> from Parkview Memorial Reformed Church, addressed to Councilman Markel, protesting
<br /> the granting of the variance, were read. Allen Alcott, 1906 Woodland Avenue,
<br />
<br />representing a group of protestants, protested the granting of the variance and
<br />and on motion of Councd~m~n Jerome, ~ ~seconded b~ Heinly and carrie~d, the petition ws
<br />presented a petition signed by 82 persons oppooing the variances_/ Robert E. Ruffi~
<br />
<br />acting as proxy to represent R.B.Simpers, 822 St. Andrews Place, stated the proper~
<br />is zoned R-1 and should so remain. The applicant said he chose this location
<br />because it is directly across from neighborhood businesses and displayed the pro-
<br />posed drawing and layout of the scheme and again requested that the Council recon-
<br />sider the application. On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and
<br />carried, the recommendation of the Planning Commission was approved and the varian(
<br />
<br />denied.
