<br />On motion of Counc~!m,~ Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, check in the sum
<br />$150.00 submitted in lieu of bond by Fred W. Bennett and G. B. Bancroft, for side-
<br />w~]~ improvement on a portion of Lot 9 in Highland Street Tract, in Record of
<br />Survey No. 175, was ordered released and improvements accepted as completed.

<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the cn~nnunication
<br />from the Board of Supervisors requesting the City to institute proceedings for the
<br />abando~m-ut of Riverine Street between Sixth and Eighth Streets, was referred to
<br />the Attorney for appropriate action.

<br />On motion of Counc~]m-n Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication
<br />fram Comn~-rcial Utility Service outlining the inferior position of the City of
<br />Santa Aha in the Southern California Edison Comp~ rate structure, was received
<br />and filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilm-~ Jerome, seconded by Heialy and carried, the claim of
<br />Ignacio Martinez, in the s~ of $300.00, for -11eged ~am~ges to his automobile due
<br />to an excavation in the 300 block of East Central Avenue, was referred to the
<br />Attorney and Insurance Carrier.

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the claim of
<br />
<br />George Elliott, in the sum of $~4.50, due to ~-m~e to his automobile by tar on a
<br />street which was resurfaced, was referred to the Attorney and Insurance Carrier.
<br />
<br />On motion of Counci~m-n Neihly, seconded by Markel and carried, the applications
<br />of Transcontinental t~us System, Inc., Continental Pacific Lines and Pacific Grey-
<br />hound Lines, before the Public Utilities Commission, for authority to increase
<br />fares,wmre r~ceived and filed.

<br />On motion of Councilm-~ Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the applications of
<br />Kenneth It. Edwards, Ernest W. Jacobs and Belezaire J. Mouton, for permits to drive
<br />taxicabs, were granted.

<br />On motion of Counci]m-~ Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the notifications
<br />of the Depar~nent of Alcoholic Beverage Control of beverage applications of Betty
<br />Jane Robertson, 1211 E. First Street and Leonard J. and Priscilla E. IIolberg,
<br />
<br />E. Third Street, were received and filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman HeWn]y, seconded by Jerome and carried, the c~mmunication
<br />from Ruth Armstrong requesting that the vacant lot at lO16 North Broadwa2
<br />be cleaned up, was referred to the Manager for appropriate action.
<br />
<br />It was moved by Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, that the Clerk
<br />of the Council advise the Board of Supervisors of Orange County that the Council
<br />of the City of Santa Aha desires to obtain ownership of County properties lying
<br />west of Santiago Avenue, north of the present City limits; and, that portion of
<br />County property lying east of Santiago Avenue, including that Avenue, immediately
<br />adjacent to the above properties, extending easterly towards the Atchison, Topeka
<br />& Santa Fe Railroad Company right-of-way; a portion of the above properties is now
<br />being used by the City of Santa Aha as a public park and the remainder is required
<br />for an extension of the same park.
<br />
<br />On recn-,nendation of the Manager and on motion of Councllmnn JeroIae, seconded by
<br />IIeinly and carried, the request of Mrs. Thomas E. Hanigan for the installation of
<br />a stop sign at 19th and Ross Streets, was denied.
<br />
<br />On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Colmct~man Jex~, seconded by
<br />IIeinly and carried, the re~,-est of Miguel Baron was denied for the establishment of
<br />a loading zone at 610-612 W. Fourth Street.
