<br />This being the date set for the continued hearing on the amendment application of
<br />Edith E. Alsbach for the reclassification of property located on the southwest
<br />corner of 17th Street aud Grand Avenue, from the R-l, R-2 and C Districts to the
<br />C-1 District, communication was read from the Planning Commission recommending
<br />approval to modify the proposed C-1 District classification covering this property
<br />by the addition of the PK-Parking requirements. On motion of Councilman Heinly,
<br />seconded by Jerome and carried, a notice was ordered published setting the date of
<br />public hearing on July 16th, 1956.
<br />
<br />A tabulation of bids was presented by the Manager for the construction of crew and
<br />dispatching building at the Corporation Yard on Delhi Road, as follows:

<br />On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Counc~lm~n Heialy, seconded by
<br />Narkel and c~wried~ the base bid and alternates Nos. 2, 3 and 4 of. Wm. E. Perry, in
<br />the s~m of $16,116.34 was accepted and all other bids rejected.
<br />

<br />On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilm~ Heinly, seconded by
<br />Jerome and carried, the contract was awarded to Bovey & Crail after negotiation on
<br />a "time and material" basis incorporating equilmnent rates set out and with the
<br />stipulation that the ~ximum to be paid sb~! not exceed $68,650.00, the amount of
<br />their bid, and proper officials were authorized to execute the agreement and the
<br />other bid was rejected.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Mark~l and carried, the recommendation
<br />of the PI ~n~ing Commission was approved and the variance of Norman Herzig et al was
<br />granted to permit the erection of two neon signs on property at 502-506-510 and 514
<br />North Lyon Street; one sign, not to exceed ~2 square feet, to be erected on front
<br />of property, and one sign, not to exceed 200 square feet, to be erected on rear of
<br />building, and subject to the condition that the signs will be non-flashing.
