<br />The Council having unanimously waived the rea~ing of the Resolution, on motion of

<br />Councilm~n Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the following l~solution en~bitled:

<br />so that the class title "Clerk of the Council" is established as Schedule No. 33 and
<br />a new class title to be known as "Secretary to the City Manager" is established as
<br />
<br />Schedule No. 2~, effective July l, 1956, was considered and passed by the following
<br />vote:

<br /> On motion of Counci]m~an Dabl, seconded by Heinly ~nd c~rried, the communication from
<br /> the Chamber of Co~m~erce, Civic Beautification Committee, suggesting the planting of
<br /> low-growing, droUght-resistant shrubs around the perimeter of the parking lots in
<br /> the City, and especially the city-owned ones, to partially conceal some of the trash
<br /> and litter which ~ccumulates, w~s received and filed.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Cotu~eilman Dahl, seconded by Mark~l and carried, the communication from
<br /> the Chamber of Co,amerce, Civic Beautification Co~mnittee, urging the erection of
<br /> anti-litter law warning signs, within the City limits or Just below or above the
<br /> City limit signs, such as are posted by the Cities of ~naheim, Fullerton and
<br /> Newport Beach, was referred to the Manager for report.

<br /> Co~m~micatton was read from the Santa A~a-Tustin Community Chest requesting per-
<br /> mission to use street harmers, flags, etc., for the purpose of the Campaign, from
<br /> September 15th through November 30th, 1956, and on motion of Councilman Dab1, and
<br /> seconded by Hei~ly, permission was granted to use the flags on the light poles and
<br /> the other requests were denied. It was moved by CounciLman Dahl~ seconded by
<br /> Heinly and carried, that the motion be amended to grant permission for a period of
<br /> not ~ore than one month, beginning September 15th, t9~6. Motion carried.
<br /> Communication was read from Pacific E~ployers Insurance Company requesting release
<br /> of subdivision bond 01-B-49833, in the sum of $122,0OO.O0, filed by Rand Prol~erties,
<br /> Inc., in Tract No. 2~94. On motion of Councilman Dab_l, seconded by /{einly and
<br /> carried, the bond was ordered released subject to the condition that a bond in the
<br /> suz~ of $~,0OO.OO be posted to insure construction of a sewer line of sufficient size
<br /> between Central Avenue ~ud the new pumping plant at San Lorenzo Street on Bristol
<br /> Street.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Dab_l, seconded by Jerome and carried, the Purchasing Agent
<br /> was authorized to advertise for bids for an Accounting Machine, for the Finance
<br /> Dep~rtment; bids to be opened August 6th, 1956.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilm~n Jero~ae, seconded by Markel and carried, the application of
<br /> Southern Counties Gas Company, before the Public Utilities Commission, for a general
<br /> increase in gas rates under Section ~SQ of the Public Utilities Code, was received
<br /> and filed.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the claim of Carl
<br /> Andreasen, in the sum of $90.00, for damage to a Salvation Army bus caused by a low
<br /> overhanging branch of a tree at 818 East Third Street, was referred to the Attorney
<br /> and Insurance Carrier.
