Utilization o£ Investigative Funds <br /> <br />The agent or officer in charge of the investigation unit to <br />which the imprest fund is assigned must authorize all advances <br />of funds up'to $500 to agents or officers for the purchase of <br />information or evidence. Payments in excess of $500 must be <br />approved by the Head of the Law Enforcement Unit to which the <br />subgrant was made, or the Project Coordinator, or the Chairman <br />of the Task Force Executive Committee. Such authorization <br />must specify the 'information or evidence to be received, the <br />amount of expenditures, and assumed name of informer. <br /> <br />There are maintained by the Index, confidential files of the <br />true names, assumed names, and signatures of all informers to <br />whom payments of confidential expenditures have been made.
