First Street <br /> <br />Request <br />Over-size driveway <br />(G.W.Farr) <br /> <br />Request <br />Over-size driveway <br />(Ruth Guest) <br /> <br />Policy for installation <br />of traffic signals and <br />stop signs <br /> <br />Leave of <br />absence <br /> <br />APPROVED: <br /> <br />M~or of~ City of santa Ana <br /> <br />collection of trash and garbage in the City. <br /> <br />The Manager recommended denial of petition signed by forty-eight persons for the <br /> <br />establishment of a two,hour parking zone on both sides of the 400 block West First <br /> <br />Street between Birch and Ross Streets. Mrs. Josephine Potter, 428 West First <br /> <br />Street stated it is impossible for her or ~he tenants to park in front of the apart. <br /> <br />ment building due to the all-day parkers and Objected to the necess.ity of purchasin <br />over-night parking permits for her tenants, and also pretested the irregular pick- <br /> <br />up of trash and garbage. Milton V. Newcomer, owner of property on West First <br /> <br />Street requested that the limited parking zone be established. On motion of <br /> <br />Councilman Dab_l, seconded by Jerome and carried, the petition for the two-hour <br /> <br />limited parking zone was denied. <br /> <br />Roll Call Ayes, Councilmen <br /> Noe s, Councilmen <br /> Absent, Councilmen <br /> <br />J. Ogden Markel, William Jerome, Milford W.Dah] <br />Dale H. Heinly, Courtney R. Chandler <br />None <br /> <br />On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by <br /> <br />Heinly and carried, the request of G. W. Farr was granted for a thirty-five foot <br /> <br />driveway at the corner of Martha Lane and College Avenue in order to accommodate <br /> <br />more off-street parking. <br /> <br />Communication was read from Ruth Guest requesting permission for a 72 foot driveway <br /> <br />approach at 105 Bachman Drive for the purpose of off-street parking at the St. Ann <br /> <br />Motel-Apartments. On recommendation of the curb usage committee and on motion of <br /> <br />Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, permission was granted for one <br /> <br />35 foot driveway and one 18 foot driveway. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the Manager and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by <br /> <br />Heinly and carried, the following standard warrants for traffic control were adopted <br />as a policy: <br /> <br />Installation of traffic signals and stop signs, <br />Traffic signal installation, <br />Four-way stop, <br />Two-way stop at isolated intersections, <br />Through streets, <br />"Yield" sign installation in residential areas, and <br />Assigrmaent of school crossing guards <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the Manager was grante. <br /> <br />a leave of absence in order to attend the International City Manager's Association <br /> <br />Conference, September 14th to September 24th, 1956. <br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, the City Council <br /> <br />ad~Journed. <br /> <br />Clerk of the Council <br /> <br /> <br />
