White, 202 E. Edlnger Street, requesting permission to engage in the <br />business of merchants patrol service, was referred to the Chief of Police for <br />recommendation. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the notifications of <br />the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control of beverage applications of Wallace C. <br />and Mildred L. Fox, 1070 W. First Street, Leonard J. and Priscilla E. Holmberg, <br />1659 E. First Street, Louis K. and Millicent L. Furst, 800 E. Washington Avenue, an~ <br />Frank Ramirez, 172~ W. Fourth Street, were received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Dab_l, seconded by Jerome and carried, the applications of <br />Charles R. Porter, Daniel J. Flanagan, Eldon L. Booth and Effie W. Asche, were <br />approved with the exception of the application of Edward I. DeLoge which was referre <br />to the Police Department for recommendation. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the written recom- <br />mendation of the City Manager, dated August 31st, 1956, setting forth salary step <br />increases for six employees, effective September 1st, 1956, was received, filed and <br />approved. <br /> <br />Conm~mication was read from Parks and Davis, Architects, advising that on August <br />29th, 1956, final inspection of the completed Fire Station, Engine Company No. 1 <br />at 1029 West 17th Street was made by the committee and recommended acceptance of th~ <br />building. It was moved by Councilman Dahl, seconded by Markel and carried, that <br />the Fire Station building be accepted and the Manager authorized to sign and file a <br />notice of completion on the building. <br /> <br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of <br />Councilman Dahl, seconded by Heinly and carried, 'the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 56-2~1 authorizing an action in eminent domain to <br /> certain parcels of real property for the extension of Delhi Road <br /> westerly to Harbor Boulevard and declaring the necessity therefor" <br /> <br />was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen Dale H. Chandler <br />Noes, Councilmen None <br />Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br />The Manager reported on the request of forty-two persons for a stop sign to be <br />installed at the intersection of 10th and Spurgeon Streets and recommended the <br />establishment of the "Yield" sign procedure which is permissible under the State <br />Act. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on <br />motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Heialy and carried, the following Resolution <br />entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution declaring 'Yield right-of-way' intersection" <br /> <br />at Birch and Bishop Streets and at 10th and Spurgeon Streets, was considered and <br />passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Councilmen Dale H. Chandler <br />Noes, Councilmen None <br />Absent, Counci]~nen None <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Dshl, seconded by Markel and carried, proper officials were <br />authorized to execute agreement effective October l, 1956, with Adam Schleining, <br />Jr. and Rudolph L. Odne, dba Sauta Aha Commercial Company, establishing a payment <br />of ninety cents multiplied by the total ~Umber of active water meters listed in the <br />City Water Department on the last day of the preceding calendar month, covering the <br /> <br /> <br />
