<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Ordinance, on motion of
<br />
<br />Councilraszl D~hl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the following Ordinance entitled:

<br />"Ordinance No. NS-211 amending Article IX of the Santa Aha Municipal
<br /> Code creating changes in district boundaries and amending Sheets
<br /> Nos. 3 and 2 of the districting map to show the reclassification"
<br />
<br />of property within the area bounded by Bush Street, Washington Avenue, the Southern
<br />
<br />Pacific Railroad right-of-way, and the south side of C-1 zone on 17th Street, from
<br />
<br />the R-2 District to the R-3 District, in accordance with amendment application
<br />
<br />initiated by the Planning Commission, was considered and passed by the following
<br />
<br />vote:

<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Heinly and carried, the request of David

<br />Wellbrook, a member of the Israelite House of David, for a Special License to preach
<br />
<br />in Birch Park beginning September 18, 1956, for an indefinite period, was granted.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the communication
<br />
<br />from the Citizens' Committee for 'Yes' on Proposition ~, advising that the League
<br />
<br />of California Cities has endorsed the Proposition reference a constitutional amend-
<br />
<br />ment relating to alcoholic beverages, was received and filed. It was moved by
<br />
<br />Councilmsn Heinly and seconded by Jerome, that a Resolution be adopted favoring
<br />
<br />Proposition #5-

<br />On motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by Jerome and carried, the communication from
<br />John M. Finamore, 1609 W. Santa Clara Avenue, requesting a reply to his letter of
<br />March, 1956, advising of violation of the chicken Ordinance, was received and filed.
<br />On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Dahl and carried, the matter was referrec
<br />to the Manager for report.

<br />Communication was read from the 0range Avenue Christian Church requesting an exten-
<br />sion of one year on the Preliminary Map presented by Mrs. Josie B~atty reference
<br />Variance No. 684, granted by the Council on October 3rd, 1955, for construction of
<br />a Church at 804 East Chestnut Street, and on motion of Councilman Dahl, seconded by
<br />Heinly and carried, the matter was referred to the Manager for report at the next
<br />meeting.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the communication from
<br />the Chamber of Commerce, Civic Beautification Committee, commending the Council for
<br />its foresight and long range view of thc future needs in its plan to purchase more
<br />park sites and the development of others now owned, and requesting the appointment
<br />of a member of the Park and Recreation Board for membership on the Beadtification
<br />Committee, was received and filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Dahl and carried, the written recommend-
<br />ation of the City Manager dated September 14, 1956, setting forth salary step
<br />increase for one employee, effective September 1st, 1956, was received, filed and
<br />approved.
