a. Completion of six (6) years of municipal police experience. <br /> <br />b. Completion (acquisition) of at least sixty (60) educational or training <br />units. <br /> <br />c. Approval of the Police Chief. <br /> <br />A Police Sergeant with twenty (20) or more years of service with the Santa Aha <br />Police Department as of October 1, 1970, may be appointed to Senior Police Sergeant <br />I~ as set out in this section, by special designation by the Police Chief. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3.9: my officer holding the rank of Police Sergeant in the Santa Aha <br />Police Department, regardless of duty assignment, who meets the following requirements <br />shall be designated as a Senior Police Sergeant II and shall be paid at the same step <br />but at a salary range set ten (10) per cent above the basic Sergeant range and step to <br />which he would be otherwise entitled. The criteria for such designation shall be as <br />follows: <br /> <br />a. Completion of eight (8) years of municipal police experience and attainment <br />of "E" step in the basic Police Sergeant salary range. <br /> <br />b. Completion (acquisition) of at least ninety (90) educational or training <br />units, or hold an Associate of Arts academic degree from an accredited college <br />with an additional thirty (30) or more educational or training units. <br /> <br />c. Approval of the Police Chief. <br /> <br /> SECTION 3.10: The following items are intended to clearly establish certain <br />procedures and to avoid possible misconceptions related to special pay provisions as <br />set forth in Sections 3.2 through 3.10 above: <br /> <br />a. An individual authorized an increase in pay as a result of any provision <br />of the Police ~'areer Development Program cannot also receive any additional <br />special pay increase set forth in the footnotes to Section 3 of this Resolution. <br />The only exception to this rule is the one per cent incentive allowance for <br />sworn officers who have demonstrated a conversational Spanish language fluency. <br /> <br />b. Salary step determination upon promotion (such as Patrolman to Sergeant) <br />remains related to the base salary range.
