a. Completion of six (6) years of municipal police experience. b. Completion (acquisition) of at least sixty (60) educational or training units. c. Approval of the Police Chief. A Police Sergeant with twenty (20) or more years of service with the Santa Aha Police Department as of October 1, 1970, may be appointed to Senior Police Sergeant I~ as set out in this section, by special designation by the Police Chief. SECTION 3.9: my officer holding the rank of Police Sergeant in the Santa Aha Police Department, regardless of duty assignment, who meets the following requirements shall be designated as a Senior Police Sergeant II and shall be paid at the same step but at a salary range set ten (10) per cent above the basic Sergeant range and step to which he would be otherwise entitled. The criteria for such designation shall be as follows: a. Completion of eight (8) years of municipal police experience and attainment of "E" step in the basic Police Sergeant salary range. b. Completion (acquisition) of at least ninety (90) educational or training units, or hold an Associate of Arts academic degree from an accredited college with an additional thirty (30) or more educational or training units. c. Approval of the Police Chief. SECTION 3.10: The following items are intended to clearly establish certain procedures and to avoid possible misconceptions related to special pay provisions as set forth in Sections 3.2 through 3.10 above: a. An individual authorized an increase in pay as a result of any provision of the Police ~'areer Development Program cannot also receive any additional special pay increase set forth in the footnotes to Section 3 of this Resolution. The only exception to this rule is the one per cent incentive allowance for sworn officers who have demonstrated a conversational Spanish language fluency. b. Salary step determination upon promotion (such as Patrolman to Sergeant) remains related to the base salary range. Advancement in the new base salary range shall continue to be to the lowest salary step which allows a five (5) per cent increase. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That this Resolution shall take effect as of the first day of February, 1975.
