Council Chamber <br />Santa Ana City Hall <br />November 19, 1956. <br /> <br />7:30 P.M. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular session. <br />Meeting called to order by the Mayor. <br /> <br />Present: CounciLmen Dale H. Heinly, J. Ogden Markel, William Jerome, Milford W. Dahl <br /> <br />Absent: CounciLmen None <br /> <br />Each member of the City Council having received copies of the Minutes of <br />November 5th, 1956, reading of the Minutes was dispensed with and approved <br />on motion of Councilman Neinly, seconded by Markel and carried. <br /> <br />Reso. No. 56-284 <br />Declaring a vacancy <br />on the Council <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, that a Resolution be <br />adopted declaring a vacancy now exists on the City Council due to the resignation of <br />Courtney R. Chandler, and the Council having unanimously waived the reading of the <br /> <br />Resolution, the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"Resolution No. 56-284 declaring a vacancy exists on the City Council" <br /> <br />was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Appoin~sent <br />Tilghman A. Taylor <br />as CounciLman <br /> <br />Ayes~ CounciLmen Dale H. Heinly, J. Ogden Markel, <br /> William Jerome, Milford W. D~I <br />Noes, Councilmen None <br />Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br />tt was moved by Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, that Tilghman A. <br /> <br />Taylor be appoi~ted as Councilman~ from the Fifth Ward, for the ~nexpired term created by <br /> <br />the resignation of Courtney R. Chandler. The Clerk administered the oath of office and <br /> <br />oath of Allegiance to Tilgkman A. Taylor. Councilman Taylor then took his seat at the <br /> <br />Hearing <br />Planning Cox~nission <br />initiated auendment <br />(Walnut to ~2ishop et al) <br />Ordinance <br /> <br />Council table. <br /> <br />This being the date set for hearing and no protests having been received, the amendment <br />application initiated by the Planning Cmmmission was considered for the reclassification <br />of property included in the area from Walnut Street to Bishop Street, and from Shelton <br />Street to the rear of lots facing Flower Street, excluding R-3 property on Bishop Street, <br /> <br />from R-1 District to R-2 District. On motion of CounciLman Markel, seconded by Jerome <br /> <br />and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br />"Ordinance amending Article IX of the Santa Ana Municipal Code <br /> creating changes in district boundaries, and amending Sheets <br /> No. 33 and 34 of the Districting Map to show the reclassification" <br /> <br />Bid acceptance <br />Construct pavement <br />on loth St; Townsend <br />St. and 9th St. <br /> <br />was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading. <br /> <br />A tabulation of bids was presented by the Manager for the construction of pavement on <br /> <br />Tenth Street from Artesia to Townsend, Townsend Street from Eighth to Tenth, and Ninth <br /> <br />Street 160 feet west of Artesia, as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />
