<br /> by Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, that the Council adopt a policy
<br /> with respect to areas being annexed to the City of Santa Ana, as follows:
<br />
<br /> lo If and when the areas are annexed, the residents will be considered in future appoint
<br /> ments to Commissions.
<br /> 2. Any area annexed to the City will be given full consideration in the districting of
<br /> the Wards of the City of Santa Ana in so far as representation on the Council is con-
<br /> cerned and there will be no "gerrymandering" on any annexation to the City of Santa
<br /> Ana.
<br /> 3. That the Charter will be followed hy the Council as soon as the population reaches
<br /> 120,000.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Markel and carried, the written recommenda-
<br /> tion of the Manager dated December 3, 1956, setting forth salary step increases for eigh~
<br /> employees, effective December l, 1956, was received, filed and approved.
<br />
<br /> On reco~nendation of the Director of Public Works and on motion of Councilman Heinly,
<br /> seconded by Jerome and carried, the request of Bovee and Crail Construction Company for
<br /> an extension of time on their contract for construction of the Bristol Street Pumping
<br /> Station to January l, 1957, was granted.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the recommendation of th,
<br /> Traffic Com~ittee was approved and the request of Mrs. Georgia Bradley was denied for two
<br /> or three car green zones in front of the Nursery School, 309 East Walnut Street.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Taylor and carried, the recommendation of the
<br /> committee was approved and the request of O. L. Halsell Foundation for permission to
<br /> install a 30 foot driveway on Birch Street at the approximate center of the lot on the
<br /> southwest corner of Birch and Sixth Streets, was granted condi$ioned on the closing
<br /> of the small driveway just to the north of the alley.
<br />
<br /> It was moved by Councilman Jerome, seconded by Taylor and carried, that the Department oJ
<br /> Public ~orks be authorized to solicit three property owners on the west side of B~istol
<br /> Street between Washington Avenue and Ma~tha Lane to construct sidewalks at their expense.
<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Taylor and carried, the recommendation of
<br /> the Traffic Committee was approved and the request of Knox Cleaners, 702 South Main
<br /> Street, denied for a 12 Minute Parking Zone.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Jerome, seconded by Taylor and carried, the recommendation of th~
<br /> Traffic Committee was approved and the request of Mrs. N. Pedersen, 2042 South Main
<br /> Street, denied for a no parking zone in front of her store.

<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Council
<br />man Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried, the following Resolution entitled:

<br /> "Resolution No. 56-309 declaring through streets in the City of Santa Ana.
<br />
<br /> for Halladay Street at Chestnut Street, was considered and passed by the following robe:
