Spanish-Americans and, especially, blacks had <br />'lower incomes than other households. <br /> <br />The 1974 median family income of families in <br />Santa Aha was $12,037 as compared with $15,061 <br />for the entire County. <br /> <br />Renters had markedly lower incomes than homeowners. <br /> <br />Between 1969 and 1974 the median family income of <br />· Santa Ana residents increased by 19% while the <br />median of Orange County increased by 23%. <br /> <br />One person households had far lower incomes than other <br />households. Two person households also had signifi- <br />cantly lower incomes than all larger household sizes. <br /> <br />Busband-wife households with heads age 30 to 64 were <br />the household type with the highest incomes. Pri- <br />mary individual households had the lowest incomes. <br /> <br />Female head households had median incomes less than <br />half of those of households with a male head. <br /> <br />In 1970 the City had 17.5% of the County's total <br />population receiving incomes below the poverty level, <br />but only ll.0~of the County's population. This <br />situation appears to have worsened since 1970. <br /> <br />MOBILITY <br /> <br />The most recent information from the 1970 Census in- <br />dicates that 43% of the dwelling units in Santa Ana <br />were occupied by persons within the previous two <br />years. The mobility of residents of the entire <br />county was 44% during the same period. <br /> <br />Approximately 6% of Santa Ana's households and 2% <br />of the County's resided in the same dwelling unit <br />since 1949. <br /> <br />The census information indicated that young adults <br />are highly mobile. Mobility decreases significantly <br />with age until about the age of 45. <br /> <br />More than 94% of households in Santa Aha had moved <br />since 1950; almost one-half in the <br />last three years. <br /> <br />ooo00 <br /> <br /> <br />
