Renters are much more mobile than homeowners. More than <br />half of renters had moved in the last 12 months compared <br />to approximately one-eighth of owners. <br /> <br />One person households have the highest levels of long <br />residence because the proportion of elderly households <br />is highest in that household size. <br /> <br />Among homeowners, low income households are the least <br />mobile, which again reflects the proportion of elderly <br />households among the lowest income homeowners. Mobility <br />patterns are not markedly different among renters of <br />various income levels. <br /> <br />The occupants of housing with low rent are less mobile <br />than those with high rent. Similarly, low <br />valued homes are associated with less mo- <br />bility than high valued homes. <br /> <br />' MTRUC~JRAL HOUSING CHARACTERISTICS <br /> <br />I~EAR S~'RUCTURE BUILT <br /> <br />In Santa Ana, ~ousing built in the 1970's constituted <br />more than one-fifth (21%) of the housing stock, but <br />housing more than 34 years old is also an important <br />part (14%) of the 1974 housing stock. <br /> <br />From April 1, 1970 to June 30, 1974 there were 321 <br />demolitions and 10,646 new units constructed in Santa <br />Aha, for an overall increase of 10,325 (21%) dwelling <br />un,ts. <br /> <br />There were 2,087 single family dwelling units constructed <br />and 321 demolished since 1970, representing increase <br />of 1,766. <br /> <br />Of the 10,325 increase, only 1,766 (17%) were single <br />family units, 6,865 (66%) were multiple units and 1,694 <br />(16%) were mobile homes. <br /> <br />Almost 80% (1,665) of the 2,087 single family dwelling <br />units constructed since 1970 are located, to the south <br />of Warner avenue. <br /> <br />More than one-half (52%) of the 6,865 mul, <br />tiple family dwelling units constructed <br />since 1970 are located to the south of <br />Warner avenue. <br /> <br />00001. <br /> <br /> <br />
