RCS:ar <br />5/28/75 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 75-68 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />OF SANTA ANA AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT <br />FOR ADMINISTRATION OF A PARTIAL SELF-INSURANCE <br />WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION PROGRAM <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Santa Aha has determined <br />it to be in the interest of the City and its employees and officers to <br />provide workmen's compensation benefits under a partial self-insurance <br />program as provided for in Resolution 75-46, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City desires to employ an outside firm to administer the <br />partial workmen's compensation program, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City has evaluated the various firms providing such <br />administrative services and selected the Fred S. James Company to admin- <br />ister the program, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br />Santa Ana as follows: <br /> <br /> 1. The Council reaffirms its decision to self-insure its <br />workmen's compensation benefits effective July 1, 1975. <br /> <br /> 2. The Council authorizes the employment of the Fred S. <br />James Company to administer the city's workmen's compensation program, and <br />authorizes and directs the City Manager to take such action as reasonably <br />necessary and desirable to enter into a three year contract for such <br />administrative services and execute said contract on behalf of the city. <br />Such contract shall include a termination clause to serve the best interests <br />of the city. <br /> <br /> 3. Further be it resolved that the initial appropriation <br />to the workmen's compensation trust fund shall be authorized in the amount <br />of $600,000 to meet the City workmen's compensation benefits costs for <br />fiscal year 1975-1976. <br /> <br /> 4. The City Manager is directed to obtain workers' compensa- <br />tion insurance to protect the City from excessive losses in the amount <br />of $100,000 to $2,000,000. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That employee use of sick leave benefits for <br />industrial absence not be permitted to extend industrial leave of absence <br />benefits provided by State law. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana at <br />its regular meeting held on the 2nd day of <br />June , 1975. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br /> <br />
