Swanson, Palmer P. Gillette, and Harold G. Ritter, to drive taxicabs, were <br /> approved and permits granted. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Beinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the notification <br /> of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control of beverage application of Jess <br /> Allen, 648 North Van Ness Avenue, was received and filed. <br /> <br /> On motion of Counc41m~n Be~nly, seconded by Markel and carried, the conmnn~ication <br /> from.the Southern California Council of Outdoor Advertisin~ opposing Senate Bill <br /> 666 reference outdoor advertising, was tabled. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the Purchasing <br /> Agent was authorized to advertise for bids for a training tower safety net, for the <br /> Fire Department; bids to be opened April l, 1957. <br /> <br /> The Manager orally reported on the protests of Edward B. Riniker, et al, reference <br /> the trash and garbage cans of Markham Appliance Company and Chef's Hut, which are <br /> left, for long periods of time, on the sidewalk on the west side of Bush Street, <br /> the Markham parking lot and stated that the owners had made arrangements to have <br /> the trash picked up on the Bush Street side, and the garbage cans would be set out <br /> about 6:30 P.M., just before the pickup and brought in after the collection is made <br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the Clerk was <br /> instructed to notify the complainants of the .report. <br /> <br /> On motion of Counci~m~u Markel, seconded by Heinly and carried, the recommendation <br /> of the curb usage c~m~ittee was approved and the request of ~.~mer S. Sullivan, 1232 <br /> South Main Street, for a twenty-minute zone, was denied. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Iieinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the recummendation <br /> of the curb usage committee was approved and the request of Free, nan Morton, 321 <br /> McFadden Street, for an over-size drivewny, was granted. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the work was <br /> for the construction of the Bristol Street Pumping Station, as performed by Bovee <br /> and Crail Construction Company, and the Manager instructed to file and record a <br /> Notice of Completion. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Markel, seconded by Pfeinly and carried, that the legal <br /> advertising be awarded to the Register Publishing Company for the balance of the <br /> year on the basis of their bid as submitted for the fiscal year beginning July l, <br /> 1956. <br /> <br />On motion of Counci~mu Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the following <br />Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br /> "Ordinance providing inspection fees on building relocation applications" <br /> <br />was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading. <br /> <br />On motion of Councilman Heialy, seconded by Markel and carried, the plans and <br />specifications were approved for the reconstruction of Delhi Road, frc~ Park Drive <br />to Flower Street, including curbs on the north side and approximately 52' of paving <br /> <br />in width. <br /> <br />On motion of Cpunc~u Reinly, <br /> <br />adjourned. <br /> <br />seconded by Markel and carried, the City Council <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br /> <br />
