No. 57-83 <br />"Monta Vista Raitt <br />Annex" ~ <br /> <br />Request <br />Southern Pacific Co. <br /> <br />Advertise for bids <br />Lighting System for <br />picnic and playground <br />areas of Artesia Park~ <br /> <br /> Communication was read from Orange County Associated Chambers of Commerce suggestin~ <br /> that members of the City Council become individual members of the Associated Chambe~ <br /> and authorize, by minute order, the expenditure of $3.00 per member, a year. It <br /> was moved by Councilman Heinly, seconded by ~rkel and carried, that each member of <br /> the City Council become a member of the Associated Chambers at the stated membershi~ <br /> fee. <br /> <br /> Communication was read from the Orange County Farm Bureau advising that farmers~ w~ <br /> represent only 3~ of Orange County's population pay about 12~ of the property taxes <br /> and requesting all tax levying bodies in Orange County to reduce their tax rate, an~ <br /> on motion of Councilman Heinly~ seconded by M~rkel and carried, the communication <br /> was received and filed. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly~ seconded by Markel and carried, the application of <br /> Mercury International Sales and Service Company, dba Mercury International Transit <br /> C~mpany, before the Public Utilities Commission, for permission to operate limousine <br /> service as a highway common carrier of airline passengers and baggage between Santa <br /> Aha, Los Angeles, International Airport, Inglewood, and between Santa ~na and <br /> Lockheed Air Terminal, Burbank, was received and filed. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried~ the communication <br /> from the City of Orange advising of proposed annexation No. 8~, of property located <br /> northeast of the City of Orange limits, and consisting of approximately 740 acres, <br /> was received and filed. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Jerome and carried~ the communications <br /> from the Planning Commission recommending approval of proposal to annex property <br /> located on the west side of Raitt Street, extending west to the City Limits Line, <br /> and from Monta Vista Avenue on the north to Fairview Avenue on the south, and con- <br /> sisting of approximately twenty acres, known as "Monta Vista Raitt Annex", and from <br /> the Boundary Commission advising that the boundaries are reasonably definite and <br /> certain, were received and filed. <br /> <br /> The Coancil having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of <br /> Councilma~ H~inly~ seconded by Markel and carried, the following Resolution erftitle~ <br /> <br /> "Resolution No. 57-83 giving notice of proposed annexation to the <br /> City of Santa Aha of that certain uninhabited territory described <br /> terein and designated 'Monta Vista Raitt Annex', and giving notice <br /> of time and place for hearing of protests thereto" <br /> <br /> was considered and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes, Councilmen Dale H. Heinly~ J. Ogden Markel, <br /> William Jerome, Milford W. Dahl <br /> Noes, Councilmen None <br /> Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br />Communication was read from the Southern Pacific Company requesting the right to m~intai~ <br /> replace and operate for fifty years railroad crossing tracks in the City heretofore <br /> constructed, maintained and operated under Ordinance No. 439 in favor of J. M. <br /> Griffith Company~ whose rights have been assigned to the applicant, and on motion <br /> of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the matter was referred to <br /> the Attorney for preparation of the necessary legal papers to fulfill the d~sires <br /> of the Council. <br /> <br /> On motion of Councilman Heinly, seconded by Markel and carried, the Purchasing <br /> Agent w~s authorized to advertise for bids for the furnishing and constructing of <br /> a lighting system for the picnic and playground areas of City property known as <br /> Artesia Park, in accordauce with Specification 6~o{-6 and Drawing No. 72-A3; bids <br /> to be opened May g, 1~o57. <br /> <br /> <br />
