277 Reso. ~o. 57-169 Install 24-minute meters - ~nrifty Dru~ Store Request Dodd, inc., ~ (remove park[n~ meter) Ordinance Establish speed l~nit on portions of Bristol Street ' Traffic signal at Bristol and ~nta C!ara Ave. Temporary sign Bui!o ck ' s Amend Budget The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution No. 57-169 concerning parking limitations and curb therewzth markings in accordance ' " installing 24-minute meters on the east side of Spurgeon Street between Fourth and Fifth Streets and on the north side of Fourth Street between French and Spurgeon Streets, reference request of Thrifty Drug Store, was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard, Stanley C. Gould, Jr., A. A. Hall, J. Ogden Markel, Dale H. Heinly Noes, Co%mcilmen None Absent, Councilmen None On recommendation~ of the curb usage committee and on motion of Co~mcilman Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request of Dodd~ Inc., was denied for the re- mow~l of the parking meter located on the north side of West Fifth Street between two driveways leading into the parking lot located at the northeast corner of Fifth and Broadway. The Manager presented the Traffic Engineer's report and recommended the adoption of an Ordinance to establish a speed lt~ait of 35 miles per hour on Bristol Street between 17th and 6th Street and between Walnut Street and 4OO' south of Edinger Street. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the fol- lowing Ordinance entitled: "Ordinance increasing the prima facie speed limit on portions of Bristol Street" was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading. On request of Councilman Gould the Manager presented the report of the Traffic Engineer reference traffic signal priority and stated that the installation of a traffic signal at Bristol Street and Santa Clara Avenue is sixth on the priority list. On motion of ComuciLman Marke!, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the report was received, filed s-od the request denied. The Manager reported that Bullock's is desirous of erecting a temporary 10' x 24' advertising sign on the west end of their property, facing the Freeway. On recom- mendation of the Manager a~d on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the request was granted.
