<br />On motion of Counci!m~n Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the following bonds
<br />
<br />were ordered released and improvements on the various Tracts accepted as completed:

<br />Boad of Calland Bros, for the improvement of the east side of Grand Avenue on
<br />Fourteenth Street, in the ~um~of $11~500.00, in Tract No. 1533;
<br />Bond of Roy Russell for the improv~nts of Martha Lane and English Streets, in the
<br />s~ of $3,500.00, in Tract No. 1416;
<br />Bond of Donald A. Schroeder for the dedication of Sharon Road, in the sum of
<br />$7,000.00, in Tract No. 1878;
<br />Bond of Bristol Park for the improvements of Delhi Road, St. Gertrude Place, Rene
<br />Drive, Poplar Street, Pacific Avenue, Cleghorn Way, An~hurst Place, et al, in the
<br />stun of $114,400.00, in Tract No. 2207;
<br />Bond of Cecil C. DeVore for the extensions of Lowell, Towner and half of Borchard
<br />Streets, in the sum of $18,000.00, in Tract No. 1377;
<br />Bond of Roy Greenleaf, Jr., for the improvement of the extension of Eastside Avenue
<br />south of Fourth Street, in the sum of $6,500.00, in Tract No. 14il; and
<br />Bond of Honer Develolm~ent Company filed for the dedication of Towner Street, in the
<br />stun of $1,000.00, in Tract No. 20~.

<br />On motion of Councflm~u Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the co~mmuuication
<br />
<br />from R. D. Williams, former owner of two lots in the 900 block North King Street,
<br />
<br />requesting permission for the new owner to build dwellings thereon, and that the
<br />
<br />Building Department refused to issue permits because the lots do not front on a
<br />
<br />street that meets City requirements, was referred to the Building Department for
<br />
<br />action.

<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the applications
<br />
<br />Earnest D. Rickles, Morton P. Gold, J. Harry Weisberger, Lowell E. Wolfe, Woodard'L
<br />
<br />Nance, Margaret A. Lopez, Helen L. Cook, Alfred Boteilho and Everett M. DQolin, to
<br />
<br />d~ive taxicabs, were approved and permits granted.
<br />
<br />On motion of Counc~m~u Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the notifications
<br />
<br />of the Departmmnt of Alcoholic Beverage Control of beverage applications of Sav-On
<br />
<br />Drugs, Inc., 1433 West 17th Street, Coast Beverage Company, 1327 North Main Street,
<br />
<br />and Downtown Bowl, 215 East 3rd Street, were received and filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Counci~m~ Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, proper officials
<br />
<br />were authorized to execute lease with the County of Orang~ for rental of three
<br />
<br />additional rooms at 1104 West Eighth Street, for use of the County Superintendent
<br />
<br />of Schools, at a monthly rental of $80.00 per month.
<br />
<br />The Manager orally reported reference the request of G.J.Nardul~i for abandorm~n~
<br />
<br />of an alley located Just north of the Santa Ana Freeway off Valencia Street and
<br />
<br />recommended that the matter be taken off the agenda at the present time and to be
<br />
<br />re-submitted upon agreement of the parties involved. On motion of Councilman
<br />
<br />Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the recommendation of the Manager was
<br />
<br />approved.
<br />
<br />The Manager orally reported he has contacted several major Cities in regard to
<br />
<br />0rdinancesrequiring fences around sw~m~ning pools. On motion of CounciLman Gould,
<br />
<br />seconded by Markel and carried, the matter was referred to the Attorney to prepare
<br />
<br />an Ordinance and present to -the Council for study at the next regular meeting.
<br />
<br />The Manager recommended that proceedings be initiated .for Assessment District No.
<br />
<br />198 to construct pavement, curb and gutter, grading appurtenances and appurtenant
<br />
<br />work where necessary, in the area described as the north half of Myrtle Street be-
<br />
<br />tween Daisy Avenue and Artesia Street, all of Pine Street between Daisy Avenue and
<br />
<br />Artesia Street and the east half of Daisy Avenue between First and Myrtle Streets.

<br />On motion of Councilman Markel, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the matter was

<br />referred to the Department of Public Works for appropriate action.

<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br />
<br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by B~l and carried, the followiD~ Resolution entitled
<br />
<br />"Resolution No. 57-175 concerning parking limitations and curb
<br />markings in accordance therewith"
