<br />The Mayor called for a vote: A.J.Miller received three votes. A.E.Meredith
<br />received one vote. The Mayor declared A.J.Miller re-appointed as a member of the
<br />planning Co~t ssion. Councilman Hubbard ~om~n~ted Arthur Bradley as a member of
<br />the Library Board, Clyde Ashen and ~omas F. Larsen as members of the Personnel
<br />Board. The Mayor called for a vote, which w~s ,,nanimous, and announced that ~ll
<br />persons were appointed to the various Boards and Comissions.

<br />The anonymous c~uication was received and filed suggesting cutting down on watex
<br />in swimming pools in order that lawns may be watered.

<br />from the Controller of the State of California submitting a s~wnma~y of apportionme~
<br />of Motor Vehicle License Fees for the period June l, 1956 to May 31, 1957, and
<br />advising that Santa Ana's portion is $332,675.46, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Co~ncilma~ Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication

<br />ca11 ing attention to Sections 21264 and 21337 of the Government Code of California
<br />providing for an al 1 ol~a~ce to the survivors of retired safety employees, was
<br />referred to the City Attorney for report.

<br />specifications for the widening of South M~in Street from Walnut Street to First

<br />Utilities Co,~4ssion, for authority to reduce its passenger train service between

<br />No. 2/71 and 2/72, was received and filed.

<br />On motion of Counc~lm~u Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the claim of
<br />Margaret R. Brown for alleged injuries sustained in a fal t on a defective sidewalk
<br />on the west side of Oak Street between Myrtle aud Camile Streets, in the sum of
<br />$1,000.00, was referred to the Attorney and Insurance Carrier.
<br />
<br />A Resolution of the Personnel Board was presented recommending the adoption of
<br />proposed Civil Services Rules and Regulations, and on motion of Counc~lm~n Hubbard
<br />seconded by Gould and carried, a notice of public hearing was ordered published
<br />setting the date of hearing on July. 15, 1957.
