Resolution No. 76- 74 <br />Page Two <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, more than one million people in the County <br />of Orange are faced with the possibility of flood costs ex- <br />ceeding three billion dollars and unknown number of lives <br />lost. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council <br />of the City of Santa Ana that among the alternatives included <br />by the Army Corps of Engineers in the August 1975 Review Report, <br />Alternative Six is the preference of this City Council by <br />reason of its: <br /> <br />Providing a level of protection commensurate with the <br />present and projected level of Orange County economic <br />development. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Limiting the discharge from Prado Dam to 30 thousand <br />cubic feet per second contemporaneous with peak <br />discharges from the downstream watershed tributary <br />to the Santa Ana River during the occurrence of a <br />standard project flood, said discharge minimizing the <br />relocation of homes in Orange, Riverside and San <br />Bernardino Counties. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Engineers <br />of Rivers and Harbors, the Army Corps of Engineers, the Office <br />of Management and Budget and the Congress of the United States <br />are urged to strongly endorse and expedite the authorization <br />of the "All-River Plan" known as Alternative Six, recommended <br />by the Army Corps of Engineers and to take all necessary steps <br />toward the rapid construction of the protective measures <br />designed therein. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City <br />of Santa Ana at its regular meeting held on the 19th day of <br /> July , 1976. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> ~ORENC~I.
