<br /> from 0'Melveny & Myers submitting an opinion on legal questions involving the
<br /> County Sanitation Districts in Orange County was referred to the Council as a
<br /> committee of the whole.

<br /> from the City of Orange was received and filed advising of proposed annexation
<br />
<br /> No. 93 of territory located northeast of Collins and Batavia Streets on the north
<br /> side of the City.

<br /> On motion of Coul%c~lm~u Hubbard, seconded by Markel ~and carried, the co~aunication
<br /> from the Board of Supervisors was received and filed, advising that Resolution No.
<br /> 57-165 giving notice of proposed annexation to the City of territory designated
<br /> "Delhi and Bristol S.W. Annex" was received and filed.

<br /> On motion of Counci/man Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the Purchasing Agent
<br /> was authorized to advertise for bids for the widening and resurfacing of South Main
<br /> Street from Walnut to First Streets, Project No. 100; bids to be opened September
<br /> 3, 1957.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the plans and
<br /> specifications were approved and the Purchasing Agent authorized to advertise for
<br /> bids for the widening and construction of pavement on West 17th Street, north side
<br /> from College to 424 feet east and portions of West 17th Street, south side Towner
<br /> to Olive Street, Project No. C-20; bids to be opened August 19, 1957.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the request of
<br /> Parkview Memorial Reformed Church was granted to receive free-will offerings at the
<br /> Union Services to be conducted at Memorial Park, Sunday night, August ll, 1957.

<br /> On motion of Councilman N~t 7, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the communication
<br /> from Ralph p, lmer protesting the issuance of traffic citations for minor infraction
<br /> of the Vehicle Code was referred to the Manager for appropriate action.

<br /> On motion of Councilman'Hubbard, seconded by Hall and Carried, the communication
<br /> from Newell Vandermast submitting an article on "Customers and Dollars" published
<br /> in a circular by the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce, reference survey made of
<br /> customers using off-street parking lots in the City of Alhambra, were received and
<br /> filed.

<br />On motion of Councilm~ Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the communication
<br />from the late Phil Brown submitting an article from the Los Angeles Times in regard
<br />to Beverly Hills abolishing the one-way streets, protest of W.H.Spurgeon, Jr.
<br />against one-way streets and petition signed by six persons favoring one-way streets
<br />*ere received and filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the communication
<br />from the State of California, Department of Public Works, advising that the quarterl
<br />allocation of 5/8~ gas tax for the quarter ending June 30, 1957, is $49,908.46, was
<br />received and filed.
<br />
<br />On motion of Counc~lm~n Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the application of
<br />Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company, before the Public Utilities Commis-
<br />sion, for authority to reduce its passenger train service between Los Angeles, San
<br />Diego and certain intermediate points by discontinuing Trains No. 2/71 and No. 2/72.
<br />and setting the hearing date for August 26, 1957 at 9:30 A.M. in the Mirrow Buildin
<br />Los Angeles; also, a Notice concerning applicant's exhibits, were received and
<br />filed.
