Re que st Community Players On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Markel aud carried, the c~mnunication from the State of California, Department of Public Works, was received and filed, expressing appreciation for the submission of the Highway Needs report. It was moved by Councilman M,.ll, seconded by Hubbard and carried, that the matter of an appointment to the Personnel Board be continued until the next regular On motion of Cou~cilm~n Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication from the Metropolitan Water District transmitting Controller's Annual Report for 1956-57 containing a statement of the amount of water stored by the District and used by member~mtcipalities, was received and filed. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the communication from Civic Beautification Committee, Chamber of Commerce, reference the of the three northerly turnoffs from the Freeway, namely, Flower Street, Broadway and Main and that City-owned land should be kept free of weeds and litter, was referred to the Manager for appropriate action. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the communication from F. P. Townsend, 201½ West Tenth Street, requesting the elimination of the ~"dip at the intersection of Tenth and Sycamore Streets, was received, filed and referred to the Manager for appropriate action. On motion of Councilm~ Hall, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the petition for annexation signed by Hitoshi Nitta, Minoru Nitta et al, communication from the Boundary Commission advising that the boundaries of the proposed "Fairview and Raitt S.W. Annex" are reasonably definite and certain, and from the Planning Cc~m~s~ sion ~ecommending approval of proposed annexation of territory located on the south side ~f ~airview Aveheginning at a point approximately' 681.16 feet east of Sullivan Street, extending east to Raitt Street and south approximately 2000 feet, were received and filed. The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the following Resolution enti~ 'Resolution No. 57-206 giving notice of proposed annexation to the City of Santa ~a of that certain uninhabited territory described herein and designated 'Fairview and Raitt S.W. Annex', and giving notice of time and place for hearing of protests thereto" was considered and passed by the following vote: Ayes, Councilmen Royal E. Hubbard, A. A. Hall, J. Ogden Markel, Da~e H.Heinly Noes, Councilmen None Absent, Councilmen Stanley C. Gould, Jr. Communication was read from the Personnel Board recommending that all members of the Police Department who have not had a psychiatric examination be given such an examination at the earliest possible date. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the communication was filed approving a portion of the recommendation that members of the Police Department who have not had a psychiatric examination be given such examination at the time the applicant applies for promotion. On motion of Councilm~u Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the Minutes of the Personnel Board, dated June 26, 1957, were received and filed. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the request of Community Players was denied for permission to use the Meeting Room at the Center, without charge, on the evenings of August 20, 21 and 22, and the ordered notified of the Council's policy on rental of the premises.
