<br /> ten cars. On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the
<br /> recommendation of the C~ission was approved and the variance denied.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the communication
<br /> from Attorney Otto A. Jacobs calling attention to Sections 21264 and 21337 of the
<br /> Government Code of California, providing for an allowance to the survivors of re-
<br /> tired safety employees, was received and filed.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the conm~u%ication
<br /> from the Boundary Commission was received and filed advisir~ of preposed annexation
<br /> of territory to the City of Fountain Valley "Mile Square Annexation", and that the
<br /> boundaries of the proposed annexation are reasonably definite and certain.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the comm%u~ication

<br /> fr~m the County' Clerk submitting certified copy of Resolution of the Board of
<br />Supervisors removing certain territory from the Tustin Lighting District, were
<br />
<br /> received and filed.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Hu~oard, seconded by ~rkel and carried, the communication
<br /> from the Santa Ana Board of Realtors was received and filed advising they will pro-
<br /> cess any and all city-owned properties for sale through the Multiple L~stin~ Service
<br /> when qualified listing for said sale is given on their approved Multiple Listing
<br /> Forms through an active member of the Board, and the sale of properties will carry
<br /> the customary 5% commission schedule payable to the Listing Office and/or any co-
<br /> operating broker office.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the request of Santa
<br />Ana-Tustin Conmmnity Chest was granted for permission to place Red-Feather flags on
<br />the light standards throughout the shopping ~rea, during the campaigm, September
<br />25, !~57 and removing them November 22, 1957.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard~ seconded by ~H~ll and carried, the Purchasi~ ~ent
<br />was authorized to advertise for bids for the f~u~nishing of one triple combination
<br />1000 G.P.M. Class "A" lAunDer; bids to be opened September 16,

<br />On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the %~itten recom-
<br />mendation of the City Monager, dated August 12, 1957, setting forth salary step
<br />increases for one employee effective July l, 1957 and for five employees effective
<br />September l, 1957, was received, filed and approved.
<br />
<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Could and carried, the communication
<br />
<br />from the State of California Regional Water Pollution Control Board No. 8 was
<br /> that
<br />received and filed advising~/the 85th Congress has appropriated $50,000,000 for
<br />
<br />additional grants to municipalities and intermunicipal agencies for construction or
<br />remodeling of~ treatment works for the fiscal year 1~57-58 and California's
<br />allotment is $2,053,000.00.
<br />
<br />It was moved by Councilman Gou!d~ seconded by Hubbard and carried~ that the ma~ter
<br />of an appointment to the Personnel Board be referred to the Council as a committee
<br />of the whole.
