On motion of Counc~!m~u Gould, seconded by Hubbard and
carried, the petition was received and filed. Mr. Johnston stated the property was
zoned for residences only at the time of purchase of the original lots and it should
so remain; there is no need for one parcel of property to be rezoned for one who doe
not even reside in the vicinity of the proposed rezon!ng. Also, the corner will be

a ma intersection for children who will attend the new school directly to the sout~
of
and will create a more hazardous traffic condition as well as devaluation/properties

The Mayor requested the protestants who had not signed the petition to stand. Two
persons stood in protest. Bert Rys~m~-~ Mrs. Glen Graves, Mrs. Eenneth Turtenw~ld
and Mrs. Rose Fenster objected to the rezoning as the location of a business will
incur more traffic problems, the close proximity of a business to their homes is
undesirable and the property should remain R-1 District. Attorney Rodger Howell,
representing the applicant, stated he was not aware there would be such strong
opposition to a commercial use. The plans are to erect a service station on the
property as it is an odd size lot making it undesirable for residential purposes.
Edward L. N-~ 1 stated he had been misquoted at the Planning Coemaission hearin~ and
is interested in the safety of ,1 ] children; there are no residences facing Standard
Avenue which is a cul-de-sac street.
