A representative of Dempsey-Tegeler & Co. <br />requested permission to withdraw their bid for an excusable mistake. The Mayor stated that the three bidder <br /> concurred in the award of the bid to First California Company and expressed their <br /> complete agreement that the bid should be so awarded. Ogden Markel <br /> Absent, Councilmen None <br /> <br />Communication was read from the PlannfBg C0~!ssion recommending approval of varian <br />applicatiun of Vahan and Arpine Apelian to permit the construction of two duplexes <br />on property at 1702 South Flower Street, in the R-1 District, subject to condition~ <br />William Risko, 915 West Berkeley Street, objected to the variance and stated a <br />petition signed by approximately fifty persons was presented at the previous meetiz <br />and the protest should be given consideration. B.L.Nofferhert, 901 West Berkeley <br />Street said he would not have ~ objection if there was only one house on the <br />front of the property and a duplex at the rear of the lot. Vernon L. Springer, <br />909 West Berkeley Street, also objected to the duplex and the men~er in which the <br /> <br />property is mapped out for future construction. Webb Brown, representing the <br />applicant, stated the duplexes will be approximately 100 feet ~o~ ~t~ garages <br />would be on the rear of the lot.
