<br />Communication was read from members of Santa And Parking District No. 1 requesting
<br />that the Deputy City Treasurer be authorized to act as financial agent for the Vehic
<br />Parking District No. 1, and on motion of Councilm~ Hubbard, seconded by Hall and
<br />carried, the Director of Finance or his authorized agent was authorized to act as
<br />financial agent for Vehicle Parkfng District No. 1, which shall include the depositi
<br />of District funds and the d/sbursal of such funds.

<br />On motion of Council.mn Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried, the request of
<br />Onofrio ~-,mfuello was granted for permission to operate a portable "Ferris Wheel"
<br />on the City streets in the residential areas.

<br />specifications were approved and the Purchasing Agent authorized to advertise for
<br />bids for the construction of storm drain on North Main Street from Santiago Creek
<br />to West Orange Road, Project No. 28; bids to be opened October 7, 1957.

<br />On motion of ColAncJlman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the plans and
<br />specifications were approved and the Purchasing Agent authorized to advertise for
<br />bids for the construction of sanitary sewer on Delhi Road from Harbor Boulevard to
<br />Pacific Electric Railroad, Project No. 15; bids to be opened October 7, 1957.
<br />Communication was read frc~ F. Dewey Lockman of The Foundation Press, lll North
<br />Sycamore Street, co~m~nding the Fire Department for the efficient manner in which
<br />they extinguished the fire at the Skirvin Tire Shop, and expressing th-nks to the
<br />persons responsible for the building code which requires a solid concrete fire wall
<br />and to the Council who watch the welfare and direct the activities of the City.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Markel and carried~ the communication
<br />was received, filed and copies ordered furnished the Fire Stations to be placed on
<br />the B,,]letin Boards.

<br />On motion of Counctlm, n Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the Purchasing Agent
<br />was authorized to advertise for bids for Rest-room facilities at the Madison Park
<br />site; bids to be opened October 7, 1957.

<br />On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the Purchasing Agent
<br />was authorized to advertise for bids for an Air Compressor, per Specification No.
<br />623-9; bids to be opened October 7, 1957.

<br />C~munication was read from the McLean Motor Company requesting approval of and the.
<br />continued operation of a comm~uication line from the alley corner of the main build-
<br />lng across Second Street to the new building at the southwest corner of Second and
<br />Bush Streets, at a height of appro~m-tely nineteen feet, in connection with the
<br />operation of the inter-communication syste~ bet~en the two buildings. It was move
<br />by Counc~1man Hubbard and seconded'by Gould that approval be granted for the continu~
<br />operation of the c~m-~Anication line.
