CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br />HOUSING MAINTENANCE TRAINING COORDINATOR <br /> <br />DEFINITION <br /> <br />Under direction, performs responsible supervisory and technical work in administering <br />a grant-funded Housing Maintenance and Manpower Training Program for economically <br />disadvantaged and employment handicapped residents of the City. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Plans, organizes, schedules, supervises and coordinates the manpower training and <br />housing rehabilitation activities designed to provide training and practical work <br />experience for unemployed, unskilled persons in general construction methods, tech- <br />niques and safe work practices to be used in the maintenance, minor repair and <br />beautification of deteriorated owner-occupied houses of low-income residents; deter- <br />mines financial eligibility of owner-occupants; inspects residences and prepares <br />work orders and cost estimates; purchases equipment, materials and supplies; schedules <br />and assigns jobs; assigns~ supervises and evaluates work crew instructor/supervisors; <br />keeps records and prepares program activity reports; and perf6rms other related <br />technical and administrative work as required. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS <br /> <br />This is a limited-term program of approximately one-year duration from commencement. <br />~ne incumbent of this position will be expected to exercise independent judgement <br />and initiative in administering and supervising the activities of and in meeting the <br />goa~ an~ nhj~t~v~ ~f th~ pr~,gr~m. The employee reports to the Director of Building <br />Safety and Housing Department. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED MINIMUM ~]ALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and three years' <br />experience in the building construction trade or related field including one year in <br />a supervisory capacity OR any equivalent combination of education, training and/or <br />experience which provides the following knowledge and abilities: <br /> <br />Working knowledge of standard practices, materials and tools used in building construc- <br />tion, maintenance and repair; working knowledge of and capability at estimating repair <br />and maintenance work, preparing work orders, scheduling work and purchasing need <br />materials, supplies and tools; knowledge of supervisory methods and techniques; <br />ability to keep records and prepare activity reports; ability to effectively coordinate <br />and promote cooperation and establish effective work relationships with subordinates <br />and the general public. <br /> <br /> <br />
