<br /> On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the request of
<br />
<br /> Hoy and John M. Hoe, for permission to construct a temporary ditch for the drainage
<br /> of surface water from Tract No. 3296 along the west line of property owned by the
<br /> City, located north of Delhi Road and south of John Adams School, was granted sub-
<br /> Ject to the approval of the Director of Public Works on engineering design.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Hall, seconded by Marksl amd carried, the Mayor was autho-
<br /> rized to sign a letter of acceptance for the General Services Administration, Public
<br /> Buildings Service, to continue to lease Rooms Nos. 212 and 213 at the C~unity Cen-
<br /> ter Building from July 1, 1958 to ~rch 31, 1959 with the right to renew for four
<br /> additional one year periods upon the same terms and conditions and at the same rent~
<br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, Leo Weiler Compar~
<br /> was granted and extension of t~o weeks, to November 30, 1957, for the construction
<br /> of the sanitary sewer on Harbor Boulevard, between Delhi Road and Talbert Avenue.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Counc~m~n Gould, seconded by Markel and carried, the written recom-
<br /> mendation of the Manager, dated October 17, 1957, for salary step increases for six
<br /> employees effective November 1, 1957, was approved.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the com,,,~ication
<br /> from the Boundary Con~isalon was received and filed reference the proposed annexa-
<br /> tion of territory to the City of Garden Grove to be known as Annexation No. 32.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, the Mayor and Clerk
<br /> were authorized to enter into an agreement with Bullock's Inc., whereby they agree
<br /> to pay $36,650.00 to the City as the amount computed to be the cost to them if they
<br /> constructed underground storm drains from east to west across their property to
<br /> remove the natural flowing storm waters coming to their property; City to construct
<br /> underground storm drain in North Main Street right of way from a point near West
<br /> Orange Road (now abandoned) to Santiago Creek and to pay all additional costs from
<br /> City funds.

<br /> On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Marke~ and carried, the application of
<br /> Robert Cantu to solicit funds November 5 to December 31, 1957, to furnish food, toys
<br /> and candy for the needy Spanish people, was received and filed. It was moved by Coun-
<br /> cilman Hall, Seconded by Markel and carried, that Mr. Cantu be advised, in letter
<br /> ~,n~er the Mayor's .signature, that his application is denied but that he be commende
<br /> for his generosity of spirit and recommending that he contribute his efforts to wel
<br /> fare agencies established for tHat purpose.
<br />
<br /> On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hall and carried, the notification of the
<br /> Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control of beverage application of Jeanne E. and
<br /> Oren B. Carr, 812 E. First Street, was received and filed.
<br />
<br /> The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of
<br /> Councilman Gould, secoaded by Hubbard and carried, the following Resolution entitle,
<br />
<br /> "Resolution No. 57-2Y5 concerning parking limitations and curb markings
<br /> in accordance therewith"
<br />
<br />establishing "No Parking At Any Time" on portions of Arnett Drive, Spurgeon Street,
<br />Bush Street and Valencia Avenue, was considered and passed by the following vote:
