CITY OF SANTA ANA <br /> <br />FACILITIES MANAGER <br /> <br />~EFINITION <br /> <br />Under' administrative direction of the Director of Recreation and Parks, promotes the <br />development and utilization of municipal recreational and cultural facilities, admi- <br />lsters the operation and maintenance of assigned facilities, and performs other <br />related duties as required. <br /> <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> <br />Develops, recommends and/or promotes, and'implements plans and policies for the acqui- <br />sition, development, improvement and utilization of municipal public use facilities : <br />such as athletic stadium, zoo, regional park, performing arts center, and specialized <br />athletic centers; promotes, coordinates and schedules usage of facilities by general <br />public and special interest groups, negotiates with prospective commercial clients <br />for presentation of professional athletic events and performing arts productions, <br />provision of various public convenience services, and private sponsorship of selected <br />recreational and amusement activities; determines and recommends cost recovery fee <br />schedules for use of special facilities; performs researdh for and prepares rough <br />drafts of bid specifications.and contractual agreements; monitors contractor performance <br />to ensure compliance with provisions of agreements; coordinates performance of City's <br />contractural obligations such as arranging for police control, special events help, <br />concessionaires and. otheK specialized assistance; plans, organizes and directs the <br />activities of assigned maintenance and operation personnel; coordinates the scheduling <br />of general landscape and facility maintenance services from other City operating units; <br />prepares budget estimates and controls expenditures; prepares comprehdnsive reports; <br />participates in the public relations activities of the department, including public <br />speaking engagements. <br /> <br />DISTINGUISHING FEATURES DF THE CLASS <br /> <br />This is a responsible administrative position invol~ing a substantial amount of work <br />of a promotional nature requiring considerable initiative, ingenuity, persuasiveness <br />and independent judgement to achieve program goals and objectives. Work is performed <br />under general direction of the Director of Recreation and Parks and is reviewed through <br />conferences, evaluation of results achieved, and reports from the public. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDED "MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS <br /> <br />Education equivalent, to graduation from a recognized four-year college or university <br />with specialization in business or public administration or closely related field AND <br />three years' responsible experience in developing customer usage of and/or managing <br />large p~b][c entertainment facilities, inlcuding contract administration responsibili- <br />ties, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the <br />following knowledge, skills and abilities: <br /> <br />KNOWLEDGE OF: buisness management principles and practices as applied to large public <br />use facilities; client needs and practices in presenting commercial events and programs, <br />including industry standards regarding services supplied to or required of such clients. <br /> <br />ABILITY TO: determine long-range needs for development, improvement and utilization of <br />public use facilities; formulate and promote plans and organizes resources and work to <br />meet those needs; apply highly developed communication skills; coordinate multiple <br />services; supervise the work of others; and establish and maintain productive working <br />relationships with civic organiz;~tions,special interest groups, commercial clients, <br />City official and employees, and the general public. <br /> <br /> <br />
