System requesting a license to <br /> <br />build, construct, equip, own, maintain and operate a closed circuit T.V. system, <br /> <br />and on motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the c0~mmicati <br /> <br />and acco~panying brochure were received and filed. Julius Tuchler, Chair.an of <br /> <br />the Los Angeles Citizens C~mm!ttee against pay T.V. and representing the Southern <br /> <br />California Theatres Association read his speech giving facts, figures and object- <br /> <br />ions to Pay T.V.; that in Los Angeles the question of Pay T.V. will be placed on <br /> <br />the June ballot and urged the Council to postpone action on the matter until after <br /> <br />the Election. Also, Mr. Tuchler made mention of the enormous profit in Pay T.V. <br /> <br />and it would only he necessary for one out of twenty hc~es to subscribe for it to <br /> <br />he a profitable and successful enterprise. Jerome Doff, Vice-Pr~sident-Director <br /> <br />of Skiatron T.V. Inc., stated the theater owners fought radio and television and <br /> <br />his Company hopes to make a profit in the business. Mrs. Ralph C. Fore, 1332 <br /> <br />Maple Street, representing the local Federation of Women's Club opposed Pay T.V. <br /> <br />It was moved by Counc~m-n Hubbard, seconded by Gould and carried, that the matter <br /> <br />be referred to the City Manager for study by the administrative staff and report <br /> <br />Communication <br />Library Board <br /> <br />at the next meeting. <br /> <br />C~-m-mication was read from the Library Board requesting the Council, to confirm, <br /> <br />in writing, the boundaries of the site for the new Library and an additiog9! eight <br /> <br />feet of ground he ,11 otted to the new Library site along the south b~n~a~y for the <br /> <br />purpose of a planting barrier to be made for the protection of the park!rog lot <br /> <br />users and the children. On motion of Council,mn Hubbard, seconded by w~11 and <br /> <br />carried, the Manager was instructed to confirm, in writing, the boum~aries of the <br /> <br />Communication <br />Library Board <br /> <br />site for the new Library, for the information of the Library Board. <br /> <br />Coemunicationwas read from the Library Board requesting the Council to authorize <br /> <br />the Librarian to bind the City in amounts not exceeding $200.00 in any one contract <br /> <br /> <br />
