<br />At the request of G. Howard Robertshaw and on motion of Councilman Markel, seconde
<br />
<br />by Hubbard and carried, the matter of the Preliminary Map filed by Fannie E. Brown
<br />
<br />on property located on the north side of 17th Street approximately 50 feet west of
<br />
<br />the Southern Pacific Railroad was reconsidered. On motion of Councilmnn Gould,
<br />
<br />seconded by Hubbard and carried, the Preliminary Map was approved subject to con-
<br />
<br />ditions of the Department of Public Works.

<br />The names of Reverend Fred Niedringhaus, Stanley E. Goode.

<br />Garner, Mrs. Hugh M. Staton, Mrs. William A. Crary and Mrs. Roy D. Curry were pre-

<br />sented for appointment to the Santa Ana Library Board. Mayor Heinly suggested the
<br />
<br />name of Clayton Tillotson, lll8 Kilson Drive. Councilman Markel nominated Mrs.
<br />
<br />Hugh M. Staton. On motion of Councilman Gould, seconded by Hall and carried, the
<br />
<br />matter was continued until the June 2nd meeting to permit said persons to appear
<br />
<br />personslly at the inforn~ afternoon meeting of the Council or submit a letter of
<br />
<br />their qualifications and experience.

<br />E. C. Stedman appeared before the Council protesting the sound amplifying system in
<br />
<br />operation at Fourth and Broadway on Monday and Friday nights and requested invest-
<br />
<br />igation of the anti-sound Ordinance. It was moved by Councilman Gould, seconded
<br />
<br />by Hall and carried, that the permit of Reverend Ferguson A. Wilson to use sound
<br />equipment at the corner of Fourth and Broadway be considered at the meeting of June
<br />
<br />2nd and Reverend FerguAson notified to appear at said meeting. It was moved by
<br />
<br />Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, that the Attorney be instructed
<br />
<br />to investigate the legal question involved in anti-noise Ordinances in effect in
<br />
<br />other Cities and submit a report advising the extent of legal control on public
<br />
<br />address systems on public streets.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, that escrow in-
<br />
<br />structions be approved and signed for certain property and easement for street
<br />
<br />purposes purchased from the following persons:
<br />
<br />Vada A. Fredericks, located on the east side of North Parton Street, for Civic
<br />Center site, consideration of $11,O00.OO, and
<br />Jose and Jesuscita Perez, located on the east side of H~alladay Street north of
<br />Adams Street, consideration of $1,000.00.

<br />It was moved by Councilman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, that escrow in-
<br />
<br />structions be approved and signed for property on the north side of Delhi Road and
<br />
<br />new Fairview, purchased from Ted A. and Ina C. Robran, consideration of $10,500.00.
<br />
<br />It was moved by CounciLman Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, that the Manager
<br />be instructed to negotiate with the adjacent property owners for disposal of surplu
<br />property on Delhi Road and new Fairview, acquired in a transaction'with Ted A. and
<br />Ina C. Robran, and report back with a recGmmendation.

<br />The Council having unanimously waived the reading of the Resolution, on motion of

<br />Councilmsu Hubbard, seconded by Hall and carried, the following Resolution entitled

<br />"Resolution No. 58-132 accepting deeds granting easements for the
<br />widening of North Main Street, spandrel corners on Bristol Street
<br />at Memory Lane, and drainage right-of-way for connection to the
<br />West Ditch"
