Butler, Jr. <br /> ~/3 <br /> <br />~ariance <br />l~eva Dean Some et al <br /> <br />Variance <br />~ulian Bowles <br /> <br />Roll Call &yes, <br /> ~oes, <br /> Absent, <br />~otion lost. <br /> <br /> This being the date set for hearing and no protests having been received, amendment <br /> No. 253 initiated by t~e Plsn-ing Commission was considered to reclassify from the R~l <br /> District to the M-1 District proper~y recently annexed to the City, known as the <br /> "Huntzinger and Harbor N.E. ~n~ex", consisting of approximately 8.029 acres, situate <br /> on the north side of Huntzinger Avenue, beginning at a point 1026.44 feet east of <br /> the intersection of the north line of Huntzinger Avenue with the center line of <br /> Narbor BOulevard, with a frontage of ~36.36 feet on Huntzinger Avenue and extending <br /> north for a depth of 127~.83 feet. On motion of Counc~]m~- Gould, seconded by <br /> Hubbard and carried, the following Ordinance entitled: <br /> <br /> "Orally-nee amending A~ticle IX of the Santa ~na Mm~nicipal Code to <br /> ch--ge the district classification of certain property and to adopt <br /> Sectional District ~ap 34-5-10" <br /> <br />was introduced, considered and placed on file for second reading. <br /> <br />This being the date set for the continued heax~ng relating to traffic regulations, <br />and ~ protests having been receive~, the Mayor declared the hear~mg closed. On <br />motion of Couactlm,, Gould, seconded by Markel and carried, the matter was continued! <br />until August 4, 1958. <br /> <br />This being the date set for the continued hearing on the revision of water rates, <br />Edwin Boomhower, 920 South Cedar Street, protested the proposed increase in water <br />rates. The Manager explained that due to the population growth it is necessary to <br />plan for an additio--1 reservoir. The Mayor declared the hearing closed. On <br /> <br />motion of ~etlma~ ~)uld, seconded by Hall and carried, the matter was continued <br /> <br />until August 18, 1958, and the Manager instructed to present specific information <br /> <br />on the matter. <br /> <br />Mayor Dale H. Heinly presented a merit certificate and a thirty-day complimentary <br />pass to the West Coast Theatre to Scott T. Califf, 8592 3/4 Midway Place, Santa Aha, <br />who was the outstanding driw~ of the month in the Santa Aha Safe Driving Campaign. <br />On motion of COl~lCtlm~m ~)l~ld, seconded by Hubbard and carried, the recommendation <br />of the Planning C~m~ission was approved and the variance on property at 2519 West <br />First Street, in an M-1 District, of Frank O. Butler, Jr., was granted to permit the <br />use of the front vacant portion of property for a parking lot for Butler's Furniture <br />Store, 2603 West First Street, subject to conditions and rec~ndations of the <br />Pl-~n~ng Commission, and to extend the time lfmtt from six months to one year in erda <br />to complete the improvements. <br /> <br />On motion of ~Ounctlm.~ Gould, seconded by N~11 and carried, the recommenMation of th~ <br />Pl,nning C~mmission was approved and the variance of Veva Dean Some et al granted <br />to permit use of the "rumpus room" attached to the garage on rear part of the lot on <br />property at 917 South Birch Street, in an R-2 District, for living quarters. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Gould and seconded by Nall, that the recommendation of <br />the Planning Co-,,~ssion be approved and the variance of Julian and Sally Bowles <br />granted to permit construction of a duplex, instead of two one-bedroom units, and one <br />two-bedroom ,mit, on the westerly portion of the lot at 413 East Chestnut Avenue, in <br />an R-2 District, subject to conditions. <br /> <br /> Councilmen Stanley C.
